Some people dismiss this album for being too raw or not being raw enough. That it’s hard to listen to or that it doesn’t represent their live sound from the period. Personally I enjoy the album for what it is - a proto RHCP album, songs written as young men in LA, full of energy, with rough edges to the sound that are appropriate.

Amazing debut album from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which introduces the listener to the very roots of this awesome band. Energetic, non-stop, crazy music that leaves you wanting more!

Band: Red Hot Chilli Peppers Album: Self-titled Number: 01 (debut album) I really like this album, and here are my reasons why. First off, this is the Peppers' debut album, so you can't expect it to be an insanely memorable classic, although it does have it's good moments. It starts off brilliantly with the funky 'True Men Don't Kill Coyotes'. This is probably the most musically correct song on the album, and its my second favourite. The best song is the slightly deranged 'Mommy Where's Daddy?'. Other good tracks are 'Baby Appeal', 'Buckle Down' and 'Get Up and Jump'. 'Green Heaven' is also quite good. The other tracks aren't really proper songs - some of them are just over 30seconds long. 'Out in LA' is the standout of these tracks. The demos are a welcome addition to end the album. Let me point out that I'm not the biggest Chilli Peppers' fan in the world, and this is a good review. With that cleared up, buy this album. P.S. Please visit [...] for some funky music.

Cuando conocí a los Red Hot no sabía de sus orígenes y la verdad que ha sido un gran descubrimiento y ahora mismo no se si decantarme por su estilo actual o por el de sus inicios, ambos buenos, ambos muy distintos.

Rhcp has been my favorite band since I was a kid my 1st cd I ever bought was californication when it 1st came out. So of course I bought the other albums as well and their early stuff is truly awesome. The mix of funk,punk, and metal is great hopefully someday they do another album like this one freaky styley and mofo party plan.

Ihr Debutalbum könnte energiegeladener nicht sein. Funk, Punk und Rap werden auf diesem Recording zu dem unverkennbaren Style der RHCP verschmolzen. Tatsächlich gefallen mir (und vielen anderen Fans, sowie Sänger Anthony Kiedis) die vier Demoaufnahmen mit Hillel Slovak und Jack Irons besser als die Albumversionen (Get up and jump, police Helicopter, out in LA & green heaven) - gut, dass man hier alle Versionen auf die CD gepackt hat! Klare kaufempfehlung!
