Great little adaptors, saved me a lot of problems, I did not look correctly at the Philips Smart Eco bulbs i just bought and my existing house table lamps. These were the cheep option and the price was real good and the quality was good. It was cheaper to buy these than parcel up the lamps and send them back, they arrived virtualy with in 24 hours of ordering. They only added approx 1/2" to the hight of the bulb but the new Philips bulbs where the small coil eco type so over all they made no difference to the lamp look and effect.

Only just taken delivery so I can't really comment on durability. Seems reasonably well made - usual phenolic moulded bayonet with the metal screw and springy BC contacts crimped onto it. I'm sure the construction is perfectly adequate. I have slight misgivings about the plastic moulding - I really would have preferred brass as my experience with moulded lampholders has not been happy. ALL the lampholders I have had to replace over the years have had crumbling plastic as the reason; it just can't take the heat of an incandescent bulb at anything near the lamp holder's rated wattage except intermittently and I usually get around 18 months to 3 years out of a 60w holder running a 60w bulb (no shade or a very large paper shade) which I view to be inadequate and unacceptable. With brass lamp holders I've had 15 years running 150-200watters (sigh... nostalgia) O.K. this may now all be largely irrelevant as the govt. is making us use these new-fangled "light-saving bulbs" which though they make houses look like they're lit by cave-dwellers' tallow lamps are much, much cooler and so my fears may be groundless. My remaining concern has nothing to do with the quality of the item, more its reason for existing. By its nature the converter/adapter lengthens the lamp, and it seems that though companies like Ikea cheerfully sell a huge range of lamps (all with screw fittings, hence this purchase) they have not considered that modern light bulbs are generally longer than the shades attached to, say, their desk lamps which were obviously designed for bayonet-cap incandescents and have then had screw-fit lamp-holders put in their stead as an afterthought. Whacking in one of these reasonably-priced adapters so that reasonably-priced, commonly-available lamps (or proper cold white bulbs) can be used means that the bulb invariably pokes out of the shade like a thing which I dare not use as a simile. Using the adapter is part of a chain of compromises which really should not be necessary, hence my misgivings. I will modify this in due course if extended use presents any problems or unforeseen advantages. Meanwhile I can at least now use my cheap Swedish Anglepoise™ knock-offs with daylight bulbs even though the shades are inadequate.

Very pleased with this converter. I needed a way to convert an E27 light fitting to take an E14 size light shade. This has done the job perfectly, and I am very happy wit the result. Just need to make the white look black to match.

Just what I needed, but a few mm too long meaning with this adaptor the light bulb is too long to fit inside the lamp fitting required, so not usable for my intended purpose.

Sometimes you order stuff , not realising it is being shipped from Chine. ( I once bought a mini iPad from Apple Shop which I ordered for my wife with a personalised message engraved on it. It was a worrying time waiting for it . When it arrived ( just in time ) I was surprised it was direct from China with Customs Label still on package. This little gem above though was with me in a couple of days. I needed it because I had bought a sensor triggered security light that had a screw fitting for bulbs , not our usual UK spec. So impressed I have ordered many more As to Performance it does exactly what's on the tin. I keep quite a few now of these, and even more or the other ones that convert our usual UK bayonet home sockets to screw--so B22 to E 27 conversion -- that open up all sorts of new opportunities with lighting especially continental spots, high illuminance, and, daylight bulbs etc. So choose the light you want and fitting type is no longer an issue.
