With any extension cord there will be a loss of power. GZ website estimates about a 10% reduction of power mostly due to the connections. Not sure about difference in gauging.

can I charge this off my car's cigarette plug?

This is an EXTENSION CABLE not a device you charge. Just to be clear. However if you have an adpator that will connect to a Car Cig plug sure and then the other end to your GZ battery sure. I have only used it with my 60W Allspower folding solar panels to the GZ 1400W. It's worked flawlessly except for one tiny itty but ultra annoyance is the plug I use to adapt to the Allspower is not tight enough to stay connected well. Any little movement and it's slipped apart or far enough to no longer make contact. So windy or someone moving it every so slight can cause this. I now do have a different adaptor that seems to be a little more stable I took off a different all purpose connecting kit but still a little too loose. I don't know to blame this extention cable or the Allspower. I have no issues with the Allspower otherwise with any other charging just this cable itself. Would I buy again yes. I also checked prices on GZ's webpage because it was out of stock here and price was almost half at the time. I also  made my own 40 foot extension cables out of heavier guage to convert my homemade portable folding and super light weight 100W solar panels where GZ requires parrallel set up. I had two 50W semi flexible panels set up indpendent of one another to charge two 800W solar deep cell batteries like 5 to 6 years ago. It was fantastic and still is. I can put the ALlspower at 60W and the 100 watt original on the Goal Zero and charge together. Also this works great if you have to leave camp and the sun changes to shade so with the extentions you can determine to set one up to charge in one direction and the other in another as the sun moves and shade moves and keep your goal zero in the shade. Last year I also bought a folding 120W solar panel rather than make my own again. I wish now I'd made my own as it would be half the price and I've gained the expierence of what works best. I used 1000D cordura pack cloth and lots of velcro to make a cover book that closes up nice and tight for transport. The commercial one is three times heavier but very nice and I can run it with the 100 from my original too or the Allspower 60W but I will need to build my own extension cable and insert the correct plugs and adaptors like anderson plugs configured in GZ's set up. We didn't realize GZ was different when we quickly made the 40 foot extension and had to re-configure it. No big thing but something to pay attention too if for example you want ot remove the end of this cable and hardwire a cig plug into it's end not just go with adaptors.
