Maypole Professional Towbar Pre-Wired 13 Pin Socket Assembly with 2m 12 Core Sheathed Cable, Flexible Gasket and Fixings

Used to change a 7-pin 4x4 to a 13-pin. Well made unit which is pre-wired. Easy to fit if you're happy with some DIY electrics So far it's been perfect. Maypole do make good stuff at reasonable prices.

Replaced a poorly made 13 pin connector that had leaked and corroded badly resulting in intermittent failures. Note that this is wired up with 12 wires, the power wires being noticeably thicker gauge than the lights (12 vs 16ga?). You shouldn't need pin 12 anyway as it's not part of the spec. Worked perfectly right off. I did however use a meter to check each wire was working and connected to the right pin for both the old and new plugs. Of note, to anyone else that tries to replace an existing plug - don't assume that the wire colours on the old setup match this one. Some do, but some won't. Instructions were good, but it would have been awesome if they had a graphic explaining what each pin was for. This kit is for the plug and wires only. You likely need a mounting bracket and the two relays to actually connect to the vehicle wiring and power sources (i.e. it should not be connected directly by splicing into existing circuits). If you don't already have existing for this, have a fitter do it for you!

Good product. I used it to replace a NATO socket on the back of my old army Land Rover with something more modern. The wires have bare ends but I just crimped some bullet connectors on and it works well.

Swapped out an existing 7 pin socket. The new socket feels good quality and the wiring colours were the same so fitting was fairly easy. Only real challenge was the slightly thicker cable (13 wires instead of 7), but was easily overcome. 13 pin socket provides a much more secure fitting and means I no longer have to use an adapter.
