Esschert Design Wood Bee House - Natural

Very sweet little insect house. It's very rustic and well made for a small price, and the wire loop means I can just untwist it a bit to fit on a branch of my tree. I look forward to welcoming the bees

Thought I would write a review for this product purchased end of April 2013, as I looked at the reviews of it before purchasing and didnt find them particularly helpful.Purchased in the last week of April and put in place at the end of the month,its been up approx. 5 weeks.It looks great, which other reviews had stated,however,not much point looking great,if it doesnt do the job.Would like to report it does attract the bees,have 3 holes duly sealed up with mud/soil now,which I think is brilliant as it hasnt been up long.Would recommend it,in fact, intend to buy another one myself. A couple of tubes were loose - I glued these back in place - and some had rough,flaky edges (the bees apparently like the inner part of the cane tubes to be smooth or they wont use them) - I smoothed the edges/inner part of the cane tubes with a small nail file.I attached it to a trellis,approx.5-6 ft from the ground,near wallflowers with a small pot of soil nearby.Have observed two bees going in/coming out today and now have 4 holes sealed up with mud/soil.Hope this review is helpful.

I bought this item as a christmas present and although it arrived slightly different from the picture, in that it had a green coloured wash on it, I would say it actually blends in more with the garden so this was not an issue for myself or the person i purchased it for. This is the only reason i gave this product a 4 and not a 5. I have seen these products advertised in your bigger stores but for the twice the money so this is a great value for money purchase.

Really reasonable price, seems well made and strong. Metal roof so will be water proof too. Like the metal hoop/wire for hanging, much better than string ive seen on others. Hope the bugs and 🐝 like it

Looks cute and with a galvanised metal roof. Unfortunately the tubes are open at both ends as it has no back, which I'm sure sure is ideal for most insects that might want to use it. Also, at the rear the tubes stick out more than at the front, so are not protected well by the overhang on the roof. I'm not sure it's terribly practical for the insects that are meant to use it, and the hollow tubes are too narrow for honey bees and other larger insects.

Bought as a gift and recipient was delighted. Product is really good value for money, being sturdy and well made. Product was very well packaged too and arrived far more quickly than expected .... a bonus! This is well worth buying for any nature lover, if you (or they) have somewhere suitable to site the box, encouraging more bees into your garden and helping prevent their overall decline.

I bought this in the early summer and hung it on a wall and waited for the bees - they took a while to find it, and I would say that siting this little house is probably the secret of success. However, quite a few bees were seen buzzing about and gradually the hollow bamboo rods were plugged by them so presumably they were happy with their new home. The tin roof is a good idea as it prevents the rods getting wet and it all looks quite nice and neat. I shall be interested to see whether the bees will return in 2015 and use it again.

The Bee House arrived today and was packaged very well. Unfortunately, thats as far as it goes for me. I bought a bee house from home bargains last year for £3.00 , the wooden roof overhangs the tubes by about 1" and the back is solid wood. I really didn't expect anything, but its absolutely full of leaf cutter bees, so much so, thats why I needed another, I saw this one with a metal roof, but if thats taking the bees habitat in consideration, it stops there, no wooden back on it and no overhang to keep the rain out. wished I never bothered and bought another from home bargain - well made, but the bees weren't considered. Hier herrscht zwar geschäftiges Treiben, aber die Nistrollen sind zu kurz, so dass hier nur männliche Beinen entstehen. Noch dazu sind die Rolle so ausgefranst, dass sich die Wildbienen ihre Flügel verletzen oder drin steckenbleiben und qualvoll verenden. Bitte lieber gar nichts hinhängen als dieses Modell.

Ne ho gia' acquistate 2 perche' ogni anno in giardino arrivano api selvatiche che provano, e spesso riescono, a fare nidi ovunque, tra le canne, recinzioni, acchiappasogni, etc,,. Con queste casette per insetti ho risolto, perche' gia' doipo pochi giorni sono state colonizzate, pertanto questi volatili non vanno piu' in giro per il giardino in cerca di posti dove nidificare ma trascorrono tutto il giorno entrando ed uscendo dalla loro "casetta" rimanendo cosi' circoscritti solo in quell'area e non girando ovunque...inoltre sono molto solide, ben fatte ed arredano simpaticamente il giardino..le consiglio a chi ama la natura e tutti gli esseri viventi (a parte zanzare, pulci e zecche, naturalmente!!!!) e non vuole utilizzare insetticidi, veleni, repellenti, etc. nel proprio giardino.

Idéal pour observer les insectes qui s’installent et bouchent les cavités au fur et à mesure . Toutes ne sont pas occupées, car installé un peu tard dans la saison ,mais je suis assez satisfaite du résultat car les abeilles resteront peut être dans mon jardin et c’etait Mon souhait. Je vais en mettre d’autres au printemps prochain . J’apprends à connaître les insectes et c’est passionnant !

Arrived quickly and well packaged which kept it protected during shipping. Overall looks great, just what was advertised!

Charming little addition to the garden. I just put it in in the fall, so I am not sure if I have any takers yet. Will keep checking periodically.
