Helps protect your lens from dust, moisture, stains, scratches and other damage Review: Like a glove - I had a Hoya 1B HMC Skylight before, which broke over a pebble and saved my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (on a Canon 40D house) when I dropped the bag (a Soligor Classic Line, size M) from about 1m / 3.5ft. I decided on this filter mainly for the cost savings compared to a Hoya or Dörr etc, and am very pleased. I'm not a pro photographer, and use this filter mostly indoors (as mentioned above, it sits on the front of a 30mm f/1.4), so UV influx is rarely a problem anyway. That said, I haven't noticed any bad influence at all of this filter on the picture quality I get, and the fit (thread size and cap compatibility) is great and build quality seems all good so I'm a happy sailor. Review: Use Protection! - For a small price this well made UV filter could save you from disaster as it protects your lens from scratches and smudges. Of course it also does a good job in filtering out UV rays. It fits perfectly well and will stay in place for as long as i continue to use my small prime lens. Don't leave home without it.

An inexpensive way to protect an expensive lens
I'm not a photographic expert so anyone reading these comments should take this in to account. Whenever I buy a new lens, I tend to purchase a UV filter and a lens cap saver at the same time. It makes sense to me to protect an expensive lens with such an inexpensive piece of kit. I have used Hoya UV filters in the past but I thought I would give this one from Tiffen on my latest lens. So far, I'm very pleased - out of the box, the filter felt robust and seems well made. The screw thread was well defined and attached to the lens with no issues. The lens cap also still fits in with the filter in place. In use, I have found the filter unobtrusive and have seen none of the reflections mentioned in one or two reviews previously. Highly recommended as a relatively inexpensive way to protect an expensive lens. Update (Sep 21) In my earlier review, I stated that I had seen none of the reflections mentioned in one or two reviews; after some time using this lens I have to say that I do see the reflections noted by others. This was not immediately obvious and tends to be more noticeable when shooting under artificial light. I have amended my original start rating to 4 in light of this.

Great value but…
These are really great value and quality as a protection filter. Only given a lower star rating as I have ordered quite a few for my lenses and some arrive perfect; other like the one delivered today was in a box that had been taped closed and the filter was covered in dirt and fingerprints, looked used ☹️ Overall a fantastically great value range of filters, but seems to be lucky dip when purchased from Amazon.

A lens saver.
Protects the lens and in most shots I can't tell the difference between filter and no filter. Occasionally you will get noticeable reflections from strong sun at certain angles that go away when you remove the filter but on the whole I usually leave it on all the time. I use my camera paragliding and have to leave the lens cap off in the air as it is too fiddly to put back on with thick gloves. I have been through a couple of these filters in the last few years and they have saved an expensive lens from being scratched. Better to replace a cheap filter than risk scratching your lens.

So far so good
Tiffen is a known and well trusted brand, so I was quite surprised when I read the previous reviews and found that some of them were quite negative. I ordered the 46mm UV filter which arrived well packed. Upon opening the pack I noticed multiple small white specks and lines on the filter and it took a lot of cleaning to get them out. It certainly was not dust as it eventually disappeared, but for a while I thought i was going to have to send it back. Overall it seems to be good value, but do make sure you clean it well with a suitable soft cleaning cloth.

Si bien no es el mejor filtro del mundo, hay que decir que es un filtro bueno que cumple con su cometido y a un precio económico. El envío fue rápido.

I usually buy Tiffin lens filters. I like the company and the quality of the filters. I have a few different kinds of filters from Tiffin for different cameras. I would say you have a good filter and can trust this company for its consistant quality.

Great filter from a great company. Tiffen has been in the photography business for ever. So you know they make quality products.

Lens cap still attaches with filter on and filter is solid and doesn’t seem to degrade image quality.
