It is really nicely produced, well thought through and clearly written
This is a really impressive book. It is really nicely produced, well thought through and clearly written. It covers all of the key issues in a logical and comprehensive way - and in every case it offers a level of detail and practicality that is quite unique. Every section is packed with practical insights and how to guides that are clearly based on years of experience and a real ability to communicate and explain the details. Every section also includes a 'clinic' section to help you to address common challenges and improve. It is by far the best presented and most useful book I’ve seen…

I've found this book to be an excellent reference, with clear descriptions accompanying some outstanding photography. I'm particularly impressed by the "clinic" and "try this" sections which describe solving some common problems and give suggestions of alternative techniques. The book covers both hand and power tool use, and includes chapters on wood finishing and some projects to tackle. Like at least one other reviewer I've had the opportunity to be taught by Chris, and this book is like having detailed course notes - as such I highly recommend it!

It does more than it says in the title
Having just purchased Complete Woodworking Chris Tribe should be so proud of what he has put together. It’s like being on a course with him, answering every little question and resolving every little issue we all come across, particularly when we are not in the workshop every day. I like the clarity, excellent photographs (the two Phil’s should take a bow) and the step by step instructions. Then we have the tips to try and the clinic to sort out problems. Complete Woodworking takes pride of place on my bookshelf. I think I’ll buy a second copy for the workshop where I won’t worry about dirty hands and grubby fingers. Well done that man – not just a teacher – an inspiration.

I have pretty much taught myself woodworking from books and this is one of the best I have read. It covers everything for the beginner/intermediate woodworker in concise and well organised chapters. It is easy to read and well organised with plenty of descriptive pictures and I love the 'clinics'. It also has a nice balance of hand and power tools. I am now teaching woodworking and use this book has a guide for my students.

I follow Chris Tribe on YouTube and visit his website often to see if there is anything new, so my expectations were high when I ordered his book. Maybe my expectations were too high, because I was a tad disappointed. It isn't that the book sucks, because it doesn't. I just bought it too late. The contents of this book would be a huge asset for someone just beginning to play with woodworking tools, but if you have been at it for what seems a lifetime so for me, not so much. It is pretty "complete", though, and worth the read no matter what your competency level is.
