Fantastic Coffee Maker for Two Mugs of Excellent Coffee
I bought this Swan SK13130N coffee maker three months ago and held off leaving a review to see how it performed over time. I think it is fantastic. I spent a long time looking for a small filter coffee maker after using one in a hotel and tried a few different options until I came across this one. The size is ideal for me, its compact and we don't have much worktop space but this tucks into a corner next to the breadbin underneath the wall cupboards. It produces two good sized mugs of excellent coffee and is so much more flexible and cheaper than using pods as there is an almost infinite variety of ground coffee and you can choose to make it to whatever strength you prefer. Clean up takes a minute, very easy, I empty the spent grounds in the bin and then just rinse the jug and filter/holder in warm water - so quick and easy. Some have reported the coffee does not stay warm enough and if you like your coffee actually boiling this maker wont do it. The first time I used it I took a heavy mug out of the cupboard in a cold kitchen and poured the coffee, it was straight away at the ideal temperature to drink, so if you sit with a cup for say 10 minutes you would find it getting a bit too cool after 10 minutes. If I want a hotter cup, which I often do I just pre-heat the mug with hot water out of the tap whilst the coffee is brewing, doing this the coffee is too hot to drink when it is poured. I also find the heated tray keeps the coffee plenty hot enough, too hot to drink straight after pouring. Highly recommended.

Small jug, compact machine, works well
I am very pleased with this coffee machine. My wife and I didn't want to allocate a lot of space on our counter for a coffee machine, and we also don't drink a lot of coffee or drink it very often, but we had visitors coming who were big coffee drinkers so we needed a solution. A full jug is marked with a number 5 and makes about three regular mugs of coffee, which is plenty for my wife and me. The coffee is ready quickly, and the hot plate keeps it hot enough. It has an alarm, which works well. You need to leave the machine switched on at the wall all the time or it loses the current time, but you can then set a time when you want the coffee ready and it will turn on and have it ready for you. The machine is easy to fill with water and coffee, the machine lid stays up when you are filling it, and it is easy to clean after use, with the lid of the jug even coming off if needed so you can give it a good clean. It comes with a permanent filter so I don't need to keep buying and folding filter papers, and it really is a one-button operation to start the coffee brewing. The only thing I would have liked would have been an option to have the hot plate stay on longer than 40 minutes, but as they say in the instructions, the coffee is indeed best when it is fresh. I have not tried it, but I suspect I could “re-run” the coffee making operation without water to gain another 40-minutes of coffee warming. The jug seems quite thin, so I have been very careful washing it: I would be surprised if it stood up to rough treatment. And I have also been washing the permanent filter carefully, because once that breaks through I'll need to replace it (not easy?) or start buying filter papers. But overall, this was a keenly priced machine that makes great filter coffee and is perfect for us.

Very happy with the product.
Very good product. Reliable and easy to use. Timer feature is simple to set up and saves us a good time in the morning. We are a home of three, so its size works well for us. For larger families you might be looking for something with more capacity.

Great machine for the price still working fine after 3 years
I have only had this machine for a month but used it every day. I understand it is not that robust and may stop working but for £20 ish, it is an incredibly worthwhile buy. Good coffee ready when we need it. Ideal for one or two people. I use a size 2 paper filter instead of the nylon filter as I compost coffee grounds and it simplifies cleaning etc. Easy to programme. Was not sure the routine would suit. It is great to wake up to fresh coffee. If/when the machine fails I will buy a similar programmable filter machine which is more robust that could cope with a larger amount for guests. Ideal for lockdown! On the other hand I might just get another as it is such good value. To brew another batch only takes a few minutes. Very satisfied. Update at two and a half years. Still works fine. I sometimes do not use filter papers. I am very careful about removing the filters before pouring as I think the nozzle is the delicate part. Very pleased with the purchase. Update at six months: Still very pleased, must be the best value item I have bought. Suits 2 of us every morning, we tend to just switch it on as it takes only about 5 mins to make the coffee. I do descale it every month and treat it carefully. I use the filter paper rather than the basket filter, no grounds in my mug and I compost the lot. I do carefully remove the filter before helping myself to coffee as the drip part looks fragile. I am very careful with the machine generally. Now 3 years later and all fine. I always remove the filter and its container before pouring the coffee as I think just pulling the jug of coffee out might damage the sprung device.

Limited lifespan
I've had 2 of these now they seem to last 2 and a half years just outside of the guarantee then stop working. Although it's been a good basic machine it's time to look elsewhere for a replacement.

Makes a great cup of coffee
I got this machine today, it's perfect for making enough for two large mugs of coffee. The machine seems well made and works well. It made a pot of hot coffee and kept it warm for me. I think it took 5 minutes or less to make the coffee, very quick process. Glad I chose this machine over the others.

Great item but didn’t know that it comes with non Australian power socket. Adaptor was required. Problem solved. Prospective buyer should be informed.
