aplic USB 2.0 audio video grabber - version Windows 10 compatible - VHS - video adapter for processing and post-processing

TLDR > It was fine for 2 weeks under both Win10 & Linux, then the video went black on both platforms & on 3 different software packages - so I sent it back. To replace it, I bought a similar ClimaxDigital one, based on the Empia EM2861 chipset. This aplic audio video grabber initially worked well under both Linux and Windows 10 - providing you have the right SCART adapter to plug it all in! Unfortunately, most people don't realise that most of the SCART to RCA adapters that plug into the Yellow, Red & White sockets on your Video Capture Device are INPUT adapters, & what you actually need is an OUTPUT adapter to plug into the back of your old VCR player. Thankfully, once you know this, you can easily buy a "SCART to SVHS and RCA Composite Adaptor with an In/Out switch" for a couple of quid online, which allows you to change it from INPUT to OUTPUT. Once you have this set up as an OUTPUT, everything just works straight away. You can also use the free, Open Source package "OBS Studio", which I find much easier than the Windows only software that it comes bundled with. OBS Studio is available for free for both Linux or Windows, which really helps. Read the Overview and the Quick Start guide, & connect everything up and start it playing before you try to set your software up - as that way you can see the video signal when you are setting it up. EDIT: the video signal went black after a couple of weeks, but the audio still worked. I tried different software packages on both Win 10 and Linux, but the symptoms were exactly the same, so I sent it back Under Linux, it doesn't need any drivers. Just install OBS Studio, plug in the Video Capture Device, & it works straight out of the box. Under Windows, download and install OBS Studio, install the Drivers from the CD & plug in the Video Capture Device, then it also works straight away. It's all really straightforward, once you have the right SCART adapter. Supposedly, you get better signal quality if you use an SVHS cable, but YMMV. You have to do a lot of research in order to find something that reliably works, & more importantly reliably works under both Linux and Windows 10. Have a really good read of linuxtv dot org slash wiki or search for Easycap. Basically, there's four or five different chips that run these USB Video Capture devices, each of which has strengths & weaknesses and offers a greater or lesser Linux compatibility. For me, this one worked for 2 weeks then the hardware failed. EDIT. There is one thing to bear in mind though. It uses your Video card processing power to do its hardware encoding. This means that it is best to avoid using anything like Chrome or YouTube etc, which uses video Hardware Acceleration to do things. Basically, avoid doing or running anything else whilst you're capturing video. Turn off your screen saver, turn off your monitor power saving stuff, boot your machine up & just run whatever software you're using to process your video, & you should be fine. For the record, if you run the "lsusb" command, this is what the system reports: lsusb ID 05e1:0408 Syntek Semiconductor Co., Ltd STK1160 Video Capture Device lsusb -v -d 05e1:0408 | grep tSamFreq | sed -e "s,^.* ,," 48000 Which tells us that it is the Model 1, with AC'97 chip that supports the 48000 Hz audio samplerate You can find all the info you need on the LinuxTV Wiki.

The second video capture device I have bought as the other make I bought was faulty. The Honestech software installed no problem on my Windows 10 64 bit laptop. However, it worked first time, but on second attempt at using it there was no video picture in the preview window, but there was sound. There was also a loud audible clicking noise constant throughout using the capture software. No matter what I did, the clicking noise would not go away until I stopped the program. I checked most of the reviews on here re these problems and eventually updated my video drivers as stated in one reply but this never worked and still couldn't see anything in the preview panel. I managed to get the preview working again. When I tried to record video, I started the video tape and pressed record on the program, the video paused in the preview panel although the sound continued, it appeared that the video did record but could not see it, the video was fine but there was still the clicking noise. Just could not get rid of the clicking so I changed to OBS Studio and after a bit of settings change I managed to get my old Video8 tape running and start recording them onto hard drive as mp4 files. Picture and sound quality are as good as the original tapes. Still have loads more to do but so far so good.

Updated review - contacted by suppliers who offered to help so gave this another go on my own before re-contacting. Using the software provided you do get average results and for just archiving general home videos this should be ok. Although did find using other software such as virtualdub this is where issues such as sound synchronisation can occur, Would be better if there was more video quality options in the software provided (e.g custom quality settings)

Just received it. Thank you. I have tapes VHS, old, since...forever. Living tv was still on, with the golden "Golden girls". I have ezcap.tv usb video capture, with an Arcsoft software, since I had still XP on my PC. I could transfer analog VHS to digital, with no problems, even if when the tape had for a couple of seconds striations (???), because the tape is not straight, smooth (it's a physical glitch? in the tape). I pinched from comments online the following which apply to my tapes: " The intrinsic magnetism gradually permeates through the adjacent layers of tape and corrupts the recording.The last time I played some home recorded VHS tapes from 1980 there were many streaks due to drop-outs. The frame scan was also showing signs of distortion.". However, my ezcap and its software could manage to record this (capture this) without problems. Of course, where the tape was distorted, this distortions were recorded and visible on the digital file as well. I could let a 6 hour tape flow, record everything from it (warts and all). It passed a couple of years. The ezcap is working perfectly with windows 10 even now, I can connect with scart and composite video my freeview box to my pc and record whatever I want. A couple of days ago, I started again to transfer VHS to digital. Suddenly, the device did not work, when the tape gave striations: it came the note "the tape is copyrighted" and stopped recording. This was very annoying. I tried this device, which I bought after ezcap, August VGB 100, because was used and very cheap, (£7) as a backup, with the same Arcsoft software, just a little limited. I tried with this one: same result, striations on image, => copyrighted, cannot record. That's why I ordered this new device and, if would not have worked, I would have returned it and checked other similar devices until I get the right one. Arriba, Chiquita banana: I am saved. This device, which I am reviewing hereby, is working. I think that due to so many updates to the window 10, the old versions of devices and software do not work anymore, as it should. So, I do recommend warmly this device and its software. Touch wood, is working until now.

Je viens d'acheter ce boitier d'acquisition ainsi que tous les câbles nécessaires (merci à l'utilisateur qui figure dans les avis et qui a très bien détaillé tous les éléments nécessaires : cable 521 , Dexlan Cordon S-vidéo...). Bref j'avais tout ce qu'il fallait pour bien démarrer et j'en suis ravie. Je viens de numériser mes premières cassettes VHS (j'ai un peu galéré pour le son et la couleur, mais ça va) . Avec un peu de patience tout fonctionne correctement ! Je suis en windows XP, parfaitement compatible. L'image et le son sont fidèles aux cassettes de départ. Je vais pouvoir passer en DVD toutes mes vieilles cassettes !

J'ai acheté cette solution parce que compatible Windows 10. J'avais une autre solution sous XP (Pinacle ). Elle était plus laborieuse à installer. j'ai préféré donc acheter un nouveau boitier lorsque j'ai changé de PC sous W10. Le produit a été livré dans les temps dans une petite boite avec un mini-CD. (ajouter HTTPS en entête). L'installation est simple. Le manuel est en français et les captures écrans en allemand. C'est un peu troublant mais pas vraiment un soucis. L'aide du produit est elle en Français. Attention, les câbles ne sont pas fournis !!!! Il faut donc au moins un câble RCA et éventuellement un câble S-Video. Il y a fort à parier que vous ayez aussi besoin d'une fiche PERITEL. Regardez bien votre magnétoscope avant d'acheter les câbles manquants! Charlie (critique du 22 mai 2016) donne des références. J'ai testé les 2 formats RCA et S-VIDEO. Le format S-Video est censé être meilleur. Ce n'est pas probant chez moi. Il vaut mieux brancher le boitier directement sur votre PC et si possible en USB3 (fiche interne bleue). Ceci étant le boitier est lui même en USB2, donc le débit limité par l'USB2. Si vous avez un vieux PC, vérifiez bien que vous avez de l'USB2 et pas du 1. Evitez les hub qui partagent le débit ! Evitez aussi les rallonges de câbles. Ce n'est pas bon ! Il vaut mieux déplacer le PC ou le magnétoscope. Evitez lorsque vous enregistrez de vous servir de votre PC, même si la consommation ressources par l'application est faible. (60Mo). Ne perdez pas non plus de vue qu'il enregistre en temps réel. Donc deux heures de cassettes à enregistrer prend 2 heures. Le menu principal est simple et l'aide du produit bien faite même si dans certains cas j'eu aimé des explications plus complètes. J'ai utilisé uniquement l'outil de capture. (cf Copie d'écran) Voici quelques commentaires personnels sur cet écran de capture. A/ Réduire le bruit / Ajuster la couleur : L'intérêt m'a semblé assez relatif et l'aide pas franchement utile: " ce filtre permet de réduire le bruit sur l'écran". B/ Les fichiers sont stockés dans un répertoire que vous pouvez changez. Ils apparaissent sur le coté droit au fur et à mesure de leur achèvement. C/ Attention, il y a une limitation à 3.99 Go avec un lecteur / graveur de DVD classique. Pas moyen d'augmenter la taille maximale des fichiers ni le format d'enregistrement qui est du MPG. D/ Pratique pour limiter l'enregistrement à la bonne durée, par défaut 23 heures 59 min. Qui enregistre une journée d'affilée sur une cassette ? Ceci étant c'est d'une importance assez limitée puisqu'e le soft coupe les fichiers en sections de 4Go. Pour moi, l'idéal est de lancer l'enregistrement lorsque je n'utilise pas mon PC et de le laisser le temps que la cassette se déroule. Une fois la casette finie je ferme le soft et après je traite les fichiers. Je n'ai pas utilisé les fonctions d'édition trop basiques. Il existe des solutions en logiciel libre et gratuit comme XMedia Recode pour les convertir en MP4 par exemple, et Da Vinci Resolve pour les assembler. Elles sont infiniment plus pratique. Choix du format SECAM (cf Capture) Vous pouvez choisir SECAM au tant que source d'entrée au lieu de PAL. cf page 47/48 du mode d'emploi. Cliquez sur l'engrenage (1) Ensuite une fenêtre s'ouvre et sélectionnez composite / S-VHS puis "Commande" (2) puis sélectionnez SECAM(3) En conclusion pour 20 € un bon produit. [...]

Avec le driver et l'application sous Windows 10 64bits, aucun problème. Cela fait le boulot (acquisition) malgré l'interface qui semble dater de 1927. En revanche, je ne garde que 3 étoiles car contrairement à d'autres produits du genre, ce n'est pas du tout standard; donc pas reconnu par webcam, donc pas multiOS. C'est dommage, car utilisation obligatoire du soft fourni avec...

j'avais déjà un boitier d’acquisition audio vidéo usb à l’époque de winxp, mais évidement plus compatible avec win 10, maintenant cette "clé " fonctionne très bien avec win10, capture avec différentes qualités vidéos possible, je vais pouvoir capturer mes vhs et faire de séquence avec le logiciel de montage fourni, top!

Souci, il a falu que je repasse commande chez vous pour un câble s-vidéo, car les fiches simple vidéo (rouge jaune et blanche ne fonctionnent pas pour l'acquisition analogique vers numérique) bref j'ai du passé commande chez vous d'un câble s-vidéo que j'aurais commandé directement si j'avais sus avant..... bref c'est pas grave. Le plus grave c'est que j'arrive bien a aquerir la vidéo , par contre pas le son. En regardant d'un peu plus prêt, il se trouve que le logiciel fournis n'est pas compatible! seulement sur Windows 7 et pas sur du Windows 10! Je constate donc que vos dire et publicité sur votre site pour ce matériel sont totalement mensongère!!! Comment peut on vendre du matériel qui n'est pas compatible avec Windows supérieure a 7 alors que maintenant presque tout les ordis sont sur du 10!!! C'est tout simplement scandaleux et je me demande combien de personne vous allez encore "rouler" avec ces agissement! Pour un site qui se dit N°1 de la vente et de la satisfaction, permettez moi de rire derrière mon écran! Que comptez vous faire pour que mon problème se résolve? rester silencieux?
