Badshah Basmati Rice, 10kg

Well worth the price, I initially stuck my nose up at the idea of aged basmati being that much better, but now I can 100% agree it's far superior, better flavour, no real need to wash it, doesn't clump or go sticky, absorbs flavours well and gives long fluffy grains, I cook it in a Sistema Microwave Rice Steamer with excellent results every time. (~£8, would massively recommend this if you eat a lot of rice and don't have a rice cooker, way easier than boiling/steaming.) If you eat a lot of rice this seems like a very good entry point to premium Basmati, helps your Indian home cooking feel more authentic.

If only we could eat brand names, this wouldn't be as tasty, as it is isn't as famous as other brands. But taste and fragrance wise, it is as good, if not better than others that sell at twice the price. Basmati rice is the best one to use. Normal long grain rice sticks and if you haven't cooked it absolutely right, turns into a bit of a mash! Basmati is usually grown in high altitude areas, in the North of India and Pakistan, the closer to the Himalaya, the better. Just plain boiled Basmati has a great fragrance but you can add the tiniest pinch of turmeric for a nice colour, or you can add a bayleaf or a cardamon pod in the water for added fragrance. A packet of Basmati rice all from the same area is better but some producers mix rice from different regions which they shouldn't do. I have examined this pack and they do seem to be all the same, which is good. I recommend this brand, especially at this price.

When I ordered this I received it within 3 days of ordering. At a pound a kilo very economic for quality rice, you would pay over twice the price for smaller amounts of the same brand see link... Badshah Basmati Rice...

I usually buy Kohinoor rice but it was not available and I decided to try Badshah, and I am not disappointed. It was delivered on time and was offered at a good price. I have used it and it cooks the way I like it.

Box came a little damaged but the bag of rice was fully intact. Cooks quickly, doesn't usually need rinsing, and doesn't stick together as much as some other rice. Great tasting bargain rice from a former Tilda fanboy.

Working out at £1.30 per kilo (at time I bought), this is not only great value for money but the rice itself is amazing. It has a really nice aromatic smell to it, which is something I have not had from many other top brands. This is a bonus. Price too, is great. All in all, I recommend this rice.

Amazon grocery is a interesting place to shop. I've just starting to order grocery from Amazon, and this one was the one made me ordered. I usually only eat long grains or thai rice, but 10kg of rice for less than £10, is really good value. It arrived promptly, rice's very clean and uniformed. We're enjoying the difference, as basmati rice is more aromatic and fluffy, goes very well with some dishes. Now its even cheaper by subscription. well done! Hope to see more good value bulk sale rice!

I am sorry but this one was rubbish. I would rather buy the cheapest price from a supermarket own brand. This brand has put me off buying to trial new brands of rice ever again on Amazon! It was so hard to cook. Almost plastic like!!! Even steam did not work or soaking it in bowl of water for half hour prior did not work! And I have been cooking rice to perfection for over 27 years at least 3/4 times a week! This is dreadful. Maybe mine was An odd batch!
