Bio-Kult Everyday Multi-Strain Formulation Probiotics for Digestive System, 120 Capsules (Pack of 1)

I came across these when researching things to help my IBS. They have the specific bacteria like Bifdobacterium biffidum and Bulgaricus which are said to work so well with gut problems. The suggested dose is 3 a day, one after each main meal. They’re easy to take but since I was on the Gaps diet to start with for 8 months, then the Fodmaps which is specially for IBS, I wasn’t sure if it was the dietary restrictions or the capsules that caused the 90% improvement. However, I ran out of them a few weeks ago a, and we were snowed in for 4 days. I was still eating the same food but I didn’t feel as well. I had painful abdominal a wind, nausea etc though less than before following the diets. The day after starting my new supply, I felt better, and the day after that, I felt much better. So I’m making sure I always have a spare pack in the house in case I run out. Apparently these are recommended by the Monash University ( Melbourne, Australia) who have done a huge number of scientific Tests in negative triggers for IBS - they clearly realise a good digestion is essential, and a bad one is not healthy, and, as a result came up with the idea of Fodmaps( basically sugars in foods that don’t digest easily and so ferment in the gut causing pain, wind, diarrhoea, constipation etc). So they come with a good backing. If you’re not good at taking capsules, you can empty it into a drink, so it says in the packet. They suggest you take them also if you’re going to a different continent for a trip; if you’ve been on antibiotics and generally to support gut health. The packets come in 14/ 30 etc and 130 which I think is the best value. I feel better and with lots more energy and good humour since I’ve combined both restrictive diets and these miracle capsules. I highly recommend them for anyone with less than optimum digestion, even if they’ve not had a colonoscopy and diagnosis. And of course cutting gluten and lactose and sugary foods helps a lot too.

I was sold this brand by meeting a rep and I'm pleased with some of their background research. However, like most probiotics, it's hard to prove benefits conclusively one way or the other so you just have to try it and see if it works for you. I have bought it again despite a disppointing study that showed zero survival of Biokult in a model of the digestive system. The only winnners of that study were brands too expensive for me as someone who uses it for general health maintenance. If I had disabling IBS or another more serious complaint, or I was a millionaire, I'd try those other brands. Biokult is I think a reasonable compromise between price, convenience and quality for a person with my incentives for buying them. I don't get ill very often, so they might be helping with immune defence, but like many complimentary therapies, it's hard to say conclusively what the benefit it. I drink too much alcohol so I think I need to regularly replenish my flora. I notice my stools are more loose if I have been drinking and don't have biokult. that's as good proof as a healthy person who takes it as a prophylactic is going to get I think. There are obvious limitations to the method used in the aforementioned study, several of which we raised by BioKult, who said it was an unfair comparison. The messages I took home from it was that capsule probiotics are best taken on an empty stomach, before meals. So I try to get one down me before breakfast now. Another good tip, which I already practiced but was confirmed by the recent study, is that it's not a bad idea to eat some live bacteria as well as a capsule, so a live yogurt or probiotic drink. A leading brand of the latter perfromed surprisingly well in the survival stakes.

I am so amazed of this product rate and good comments.. But it's not true My body reacted so badly to it due the dairy content.. I have also my friend who had a bad diarrhea and the other one a tummy ache.. I know that each body is different but we are three and each one of us had a different reaction. Please if you have a problem from dairy and soy don't lose your money
