Great fossil set for kids
I bought this fossil set for my son’s 6th birthday party, planning to give each kid some fossils and let them try to identify them (with my help) and then take them home as party favors. The set is exactly as advertised. There are several more exciting fossils in the set, including a very nice ammonite, piece of petrified wood, coprolite, some good condition medium-sized shark teeth, a piece of dinosaur bone, and a snake vertebra. And then there are tons of small shark teeth, crinoids, gastropods, clams, skate teeth, and corals. The educational materials with the set are fantastic. The pictures make identifying the fossils easy, and they provide good information about broader groups of animals represented, but also where these particular fossils came from and what specific species or genera were represented. Before the party I sorted through the set and made a bag for each kid, to ensure that everyone got at least one “wow” sort of fossil, several shark teeth, a clam, etc. Then I had the kids go through their bags and taught them about what they had. The kids (ages 3-10, but mostly 5-6) LOVED it. They were excited about all the fossils. The coprolite was especially beloved once I defined the word for them (poop. It’s fossilized poop. 5-6 year old boys found this hilarious and amazing). Needless to say, this fossil kit made my son’s birthday party one all his friends will be talking about for a while. It’s perfect as a party activity/favors for about 10 kids. If you have more kids, you might want 2 kits so everyone gets enough fossils. The kit would also be great as a family educational activity or homeschool lesson.

Great bulk fossil set
Here are the fossils I received: 4 small flat sea urchins 5 nice sized fish vertebrae 3 spiral gastropods 6 tiger eye gastropods A few petrified wood pieces 1 good condition crow shark tooth Handful of stingray teeth 1 ammonite from Morocco 1 large brachiopod 4 small pieces of coral 1 sea urchins spine 1 turtle coprolite specimen 1 agatized gastropod 1 polished orthocereas A very large handful of crinoids 7 bivalves and fragments 1 cut and polished ammonite from Madagascar Large handful of mostly sand tiger shark teeth C grade 3 tiny fossilized wood lice Couple of bone fragments 1 neonatal mackerel shark in matrix and 7 C to B grade mackerel shark teeth loose The total estimated value of this kit is $45 (conservative estimate) but most of the fun is sorting the fossils yourself. All fossils are dusty and from personal experience as a hobby fossil hunter with paleontologist friends these fossils look like they came straight from the dig site with little cleaning. These fossils may not have much collectors value but they are very fun to handle and collect nonetheless.

TONS of dust and teeth, not all other fossils represented
There's a bazillion shark teeth in my set. They're outnumbered in mass only by the amount of dust at the bottom of my bag. I do like having so many shark teeth as I can share with my students easily without depleting my collection. However it's at the cost of missing some other items. There is no card for the star shaped crinoids, and yet that's probably the 2nd most populace fossil in my set. The only orthocereas is half the size of the images shown on the website. It's incomplete, just one half of the specimen. The petrified wood & coral are all very small pieces. And there's no sea urchins or anything that matches the "dinosaur" card. I have to wonder if those use to exist in here but are now part of the reason there's so many crumbs and dust? Maybe they just weren't durable enough to survive the packaging and trip? Overall, it's a fun set to sort through and learn as you go. My 13 year old enjoys it, and the students in my K-2nd grade classes will love it. The poop specimen is unique. Would I purchase again? Probably not. I'd opt for the more premium set with fewer pieces instead. But if you're looking for a large quanitity of fossils quick, this is a good value for that.

Great Customer Support
This product was as described with a good variety of items. Additionally I had a great experience with customer support they responded to my question immediately and went out of their way to help me get the supplies I needed to make discovery kits for my nieces and nephews. I have never left a review on anything before but I was so pleased with my experience I wanted to make a note of it.

Returned Item
We returned this item . It was intended as a gift for our 8 year old Grandson. My husband did not feel it was a good value . Our Grandson already has a collection he has found , it seemed kinda rinky dink to us . Maybe for a younger child ? It was packaged nicely . Shipped quickly.

Great for summer school!
Awesome set! Loved the ID cards in particular! They allowed each student in the class to search for a specific fossil from the pile. Other kits have a single booklet or mini poster and it's harder to get everyone involved when there's only one ID guide, so this kit is way better for groups!
