Shimano Di2 Inline Wireless Unit - Ew-Wu111 One Color, One Size

Works as advertised. I had the bike shop install it by wrapping it into the handlebar tape. I'm using Ultegra shift levers and the little Di2 junction box under the stem. GRX 11-speed derailleurs and chainring.

The WU111 is very easy to install, simply connect one end somewhere inline with your Di2 system. It can either be installed as the last item in a chain or as a connector between two wires. Has worked flawlessly every time so far on two different systems. Note this is for 11sp Di2 as 12sp has wireless natively. The two systems are not interchangeable. It also requires the newer 11sp battery and will not work with the old battery. If you want to or need to update firmware, change settings or perform other maintenance on your 11sp system, this allows you to connect to eTube from your phone and replaces the annoying method of connecting a windows PC.

Not sure why this didn’t come with the bike in the first place, but hey…. Shimano gonna Shimano. Really easy to instal on my bike, since there was a “pass through” adapter that could just be replaced with this unit. Works great.

The wireless plug for my di2 system has changed how I use my bike, and it is the best upgrade I've done next to the electronic shifting. The ability to log into an app and adjust the gearing on the fly is amazing.

I bought a used bike from a friend that was a significant upgrade from my current bike. It was my first experience with electronic shifting and I have a little bit of range anxiety not wanting to lose shifting during the middle of a ride. This little barrel connector replaced a junction box that is the same size and it allowed me to pair the shifting to my Garmin Edge unit. Now my bike computer alerts me when the battery gets low and it is time to recharge the battery. This also communicates with the bike computer to show me the current gear ratio. The system does not behave any differently than before, but I feel so much better knowing how much battery I have left on each ride. Installing the device took less than a minute as the wires are just press fit into the adapter.

It took 2 attempts to get the device updated via the E-Tube app but finally held and all functions seem to be working. Problem is the D-Fly Bluetooth transmitter never goes to sleep - stays on 24/7 even with bike sitting idle. The result is the battery drains about 10% every day without any shifting going on. The app is disconnected from bike and closed on phone along with Bluetooth. The Garmin 530 which is paired is also powered down when not in use. Assuming a hardware defect since firmware reports up to date on ETube. Update 12/13/23 After making a wired connection to a PC running E-Tube and disconnecting the bluetooth function on the D-Fly is not staying on continuously any longer.

Fácilmente shimano podría introducir ésta tecnología en la centralita o en en junction box, pero prefiere ganar más al venderlo por separado. Por lo demás, me agrada ver el status en mi garmin.
