OXO Good Grips Compact Toilet Brush & Canister - Gray

What a phenomenal toilet brush! The canister is the star of the show, and really does open automatically when you lift the brush handle. The drip tray on the canister works exceptionally well to help dry the brush between uses, which helps it from getting musty or moldy. The brush itself is very lightweight, sturdy, and easy to hold. The bristles let me get into all little hard to reach places where grime can accumulate. My toilet has never been so clean! The holder and brush allow for very compact storage. It’s a very high quality and effective brush and a great value for the money. I highly recommend it!

I never thought I’d be so excited about a toilet brush, but the OXO Good Grips Compact Toilet Brush & Canister has changed the game! This little powerhouse is sleek, stylish, and ready to tackle the dirtiest jobs with grace. The canister pops open and closed like a secret agent’s gadget, making it super hygienic and convenient. The brush itself has sturdy bristles that make scrubbing a breeze, and the handle is so comfortable I almost forget I’m cleaning the toilet. Even my cat, who usually avoids the bathroom, seems intrigued by this new addition. She’s given it a few curious sniffs and seems to approve of its sleek design. If you want a toilet brush that’s both effective and looks great in your bathroom, this is the one for you. Who knew cleaning the toilet could be this much fun?

It feels strange to be reviewing a toilet brush, but this is one of the more “attractive” brush and canister sets out there. It blends well with our decor and is reasonably unobtrusive. It’s also a good brush that works well and is likely to last. In general, I feel that OXO products are well designed and work the way they’re supposed to.

Sturdy, enclosed and does the job.

I bought 2 OXO Grips Hideaway Compact Toilet Brushes a while ago. It's a neat and compact brush that hides away very well. The open/close mechanism is a handy feature--no need to balance the brush back in the cradle. The brush bristles are firm but not stiff. Bristles clean well without a lot of pressure. The shape of the brush helps with under the rim cleaning as well. Nice feature: the exchangeable brush. It saves the environment as well as cost. I don't understand some of the negative comments regarding brush "unscrewing easily" as well as "flooding" after cleaning or problems with removing the stickers. Here's my experience: 1. The brush head does not come off easily and certainly not with normal cleaning. I tested how firmly the bristles are attached to the pole when the brush arrived. It was VERY firmly attached and it took a bit of strength to get it off! My advice would be to try to get it off once before using the brush. Screw it back on but not as tight. Again, the brush head will NOT come off with normal cleaning. 2. I can see where the "flooding" issue comes from. The brush is obviously wet after cleaning. I usually shake it out (gently) and there is little to no dripping water left. Whatever volume drips down from there is easily contained. So far, I've had no drips or "floods" at all. The inside of the container seems to be completely dry by next brush session. 3. The sticker issue that is none. Like most newer sticker, this one came off easily. No residue at all. The trick is to peel at the corner and SLOWLY peel in one direction. For larger stickers, I sometimes pull several corners and work my way to the center. If somehow a bit of residue is left a little nail polish remover can help. Or GooGone, but that one is oily and needs to be washed with soap afterwards. Some advice once brush has been in use for a while: toilet containers need the occasional cleaning as well. Yes, nobody enjoys that and I'd rather do something else too but it avoids germs and odor down the road. I spray either a bit of vinegar or clorox to the inside while holding over the toilet or a container that can be disposed of. Rinse with water...done. Or, if you have money to spare, get a brand new one. Changing the brush may also be a bit unappetizing. I recommend wearing disposable gloves to avoid direct contact with the bristles. Drawbacks? Mechanically, none. Design is not terribly exciting and neither are the color choices but I personally can live with that. Update ( October 27, 2018) A year later, the toilet brush is still great. Not once did the brush head come off! Bristles brush is still original and looks like new ( see photos) despite heavy usage in a 4 person household. Obviously it is a very durable, high quality product.

This was a good purchase for our bathroom. OXO products are well-made, and they are a good value for the money. Some products can be really pricey, but we'd rather have quality. No assembly needed. The toilet brush is rounded so you need to scrub a little harder for the best effect. Looks nice in bathroom. Good weight of materials. Long enough to reach without getting down close to the toilet.

Need new brushes with a closing lid. These fit the need perfectly. They clean fine and are study so far. No water drippings as they go in the case. Easy to remove and put back when done. Color fits with any bathroom. OXO usually makes good products and this one is too.

Really nice design. Since it isn't metal, you'll not have to worry about rust. The lid is designed very well - automatically opens when you lift the brush and stays open so you can replace the brush without touching the lid. Also, there are perforations that allow the recepticle to dry out completely.

This toilet brush is extremely sturdy and shaped perfectly. I like to scrub my toilet very well and this brush is extremely well made. I can feel the sturdiness just when I pick it up and have confidence that it will preform under my strong scrubbing. The design is well thought of and reaches under the bowl well. I will definitely buy again if needed.

In theory it is a great product. When you start using it, you accept that it does not have a water catcher and you try your best to remove as much of the toilet water from the brush each time you use it. You try different techniques; slamming it against the toilet seat, shaking it viciously above the toilet.. but no matter what you try, toilet water ends up in the toilet brush holder. You think all is fine, but once in a while the brush holder fills with just enough toilet water that any slight movement to the toilet brush holder gets toilet water on the floor. Now you are in a dilemma; do ignore it and hope the water magically evaporates or do you bring out your amazing balancing skills so you can pick it up and hover it over the toilet and pour it out. Jokes on you, there is toilet water everywhere. Neither solutions brings joy in using the toilet brush. It is time to move on and accept defeat...

Can one get excited about a toilet brush? Yes, maybe this one. It really is so good. You might even be inclined to use it more often. The OXO Compact Toilet Brush and Canister is very easy to pick up and replace. It has a wide, easy grip handle which is tall enough for people with mobility and coordination issues. Being a simple pick-up design adds to that: there are no tricky slots to co-ordinate with the handle, just pull to pick up. To set down just aim for the wide, open slot and let go. The brush part is an excellent size, shape and texture for getting in and around the toilet bowl. Another brand was unusable for us as the brush head was too big and hard to fit into all parts of the bowl. The fact that the OXO brush head is replaceable is an amazing bonus. If there's a tiny question mark with this excellent product it is that the brush might be just a touch too soft to clean away lime scale. But actually, this is not really an issue as there are products to dissolve lime scale and the texture of the brush is good for getting into nooks and crannies. The brush unit looks neat and discrete in the bathroom. Just the right size and a slightly muted, gentle white colour which looks fine in an all-white bathroom.
