Malware?! i did everything and all of my virus protection apps are flagging it with malware. this is scary and amazon wont let me review the product.

Hi! The adapter does not contain any malware. It is a USB hardware adapter designed to provide your PC with AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. If you are referring to the downloading and installation of a driver for the adapter, please ensure you are properly downloading it from our official TP-Link website and not a third-party site.

Why does the light flash? It seems to be connected, what gives?

Not really sure what is causing the light to blink -- but a Solid light - means you are connected...

As the usb naming scheme has now changed from "3.0" to "3.1 gen 1 (5gbps)" and and "3.2 gen 2 (~10gbps), which type of usb connection is supported?

I have an ASROCK board with both gen 1 and gen 2. Works fine with gen 1. When I try using gen 2, I get an error when it tries to connect to the network (can't connect to network). So from my use, I'd say stick with 3.1 gen 1 ports.

While I don't want to prejudice users against this product, I can say, from my own experience, that, at first, it seemed to increase my WiFi reception from awful to acceptable, but then it stopped working altogether in a few months. That led me to try, on a whim, to get out the box of unused parts that came with my 8 year old high end PC. I found the external WiFi antenna that my builder sent to me as a part that was never installed, as they considered that it irrelevant to my build (used only 100 Mbit ethernet with this computer for years) and decided to plug it in to its special port (later antennae don't necessarily need such a port; they're usually just USB). Bingo. I got much better reception from this passive device than I had from the AX 1800, along with almost zero chance of it ever malfunctioning. If it were me, I'd just return the AX 1800 and try a good passive external antenna, preferably one that, like mine, came originally with your motherboard. If that doesn't help you, perhaps there could be another active solution.

200mbps ceiling no more! At our new home I had tried getting our xFinity wifi speeds to get anywhere near the wired speeds (routinely 600 - 800mbps with the ethernet cables strong from the router 50 feet to my office) and no matter what I did the wifi speed never went above 200 - 220mbps. What was weird is that a cheap $200 buck Lexmark Chromebook would get wifi speeds of 450 - 600 no problem (so, at least that saved me from contacting xFinity "support" since clearly that showed the router was working just fine.) I ordered a couple other USB wifi adapters (primarily based on reviews mentioning the sorts of speeds I was hoping, nothing else) with no luck. I finally asked Claude.ai what could be happening and it indicated I needed a 2mimo Wifi-6 compatible adapter and specifically recommended this one. I tried it on an older HP G1 desktop, first, with no increase in speed. I thought this wasn't go to work either but thought I would give it a try on a much newer PC. Lo' and behold, it worked PERFECTLY and the first Fast.com speed report was 580mbps. Since then the speeds have average 650 - 800mbps! (BTW, the reason the old PC's speed didn't increase is not only is it Windows 10, but according to Claude.ai the chipset of that machine isn't capable of supporting today's Wifi-6 demands.) The design is great and it took only a few minutes to install after downloading the latest driver. Not only was it a great price it the performance and the range saved from what I was preparing to do the following day, call the handyman to wire the house for wired ethernet (which would have easily cost $500 - $1000 bucks for all of the rooms I was resigning myself to needing ethernet drops!) El producto llego bien, conectarlo e instalarlo fue fácil, pero con respecto al problema de la detección de redes 5g si tiene un problema, la solución que yo encontré fue configurar el canal de mi router, un xiaomi ax1800, cambie el canal al 36 y fue como el adaptador detecto la red 5g.
