Being a psych major automatically influence my love for this book. On a student level, this book is fantastic​ in the way it presents the information and gives you extra resources at the end of each chapter to implement the skills that you learn. I found the material to be an easy read, and each chapter was fairly quick to get through. I would recommend this book to any psych major! I bought my textbook new and planned on using it for reference in the future.

This kindle book is great, easily find topics with the search section, love that I can read it on my phone or laptop.

This was required for my HUS interviewing and counseling class. It was easy to follow and gave amazing examples of sessions.

Brand new, crispy seam on the inside of the book. It cracks as you open it and I love that sound. Sturdy Hardback cover. I have no complaints! Happy college student & customer!

I purchased this book in the Kindle format as I use quite a few textbooks on my tablet (Fire 8). I also was trying to be price conscious as this is a pretty expensive book. While the content and writing of the book is great and I'm happy to have it, the format is disappointing. The publisher, Cengage has an online learning platform that supports this book and I'm sure many others. The course I am taking requires me to subscribe to one of the platforms, Mindtap. This is a subscription service that provides you a copy of the book to work through as long as you keep your Mindtap service active. If you are interested in a physical version of the book, you can purchase it along with your subscription. **There is no code or subscription that comes with purchasing the Kindle version of this book (as of 10/23/20 and as far as I am aware, the regular versions do not contain those either)** My point with all of this, is I now have 3 copies of this book, due to frustrations with this Kindle format. The kindle format (as of this review 10/23/20) has page numbers. It has the book information. That's about it. The pages are different from my other books, as the type is small and becomes blurry when trying to zoom in on the page (then it "snaps" into focus) and makes for a lot of resizing trouble to get through each page. I have had this book crash multiple times, putting me back to my home screen. At certain points, the book gives me a loading page also, that may or may not crash as well. The search function does not work. When tapping on the page to bring up the ToC, chapters, etc. the book decides I need to flip through 4 or 5 pages before it will bring that up. These are issues I do not experience with other textbooks or regular books on my tablet. I am grateful for the page numbers, as the book in Mindtap does not have them. The frustration with the constant page resizing and crashing was not tolerable for me, especially because the book is great! I now use a loose-leaf version of the book. It has page numbers, the print is legible and I can get to the index and search for what I'm looking for without the book closing on me and putting itself on the shelf ;)

In my second year as a Masters Student in Counseling, this is the first book that is worth a $#!t. Practical, clear. It's a good book.
