Good Bread Maker, Very Versatile
The Panasonic Bread Maker is replacing a 20 year old bread maker. It still works, but the bread pan keeps popping up when using a bread mix. The bread pan in the Panasonic locks with a little twist. I made the Basic White Bread from the Panasonic manual in the old machine before the Panasonic arrived and then in the Panasonic Bread Maker. The first picture is from the old machine, the second from the Panasonic and the third is my second attempt at a Banana Bread recipe for bread machines. The banana bread hasn't cooled enough to slice, yet. I wasn't 100% satisfied with the first banana bread loaf, but it still came out pretty well. To make the banana bread, I had to manually set the mix time, then manually set the bake time. I have never been able to do that before. I was impressed that the Panasonic has that capability. Compared to our old machine, the bread from the Panasonic is a little lighter in color, the crust is softer and the loaf is "spongy". When pressed lightly, it springs back to the original shape. Before, I had to be careful not to leave a dent in the bread. I have tried a bread mix in the Panasonic 2 times, but it did not come out perfect either time. The bread was very good, just not perfect. I The Panasonic is not perfect, but I couldn't afford $400 for the huge, nearly perfect bread maker that I don't have room for anyway. I read the online manual for the Panasonic before buying it and I was impressed with the way it was laid out and the way the different functions were described.. I still have some learning to do for bread mixes, but I thoroughly pleased with the results of the bread made from "scratch". I just wish that the settings screen was back lit I also want to mention, for those keeping track, this is my second Panasonic. I ordered one from another vendor because it was substantially cheaper, but it arrived dented. The vendor didn't have any more, so I bought this one from Amazon. It arrived it perfect condition., thankfully. I think that Panasonic needs to using something a little more substantial than air to protect the sides of the bread maker in the shipping carton. Bottom line, I am happy that I bought the Panasonic Bread Maker

Super bread maker
I use this bread maker several times a week. It’s so super convenient to just add the ingredients and bread is ready in 4 hours.

Did not work
This bread machine did not work. I have owned 2 previous Panasonic bread machines in the past and wore them out. Each produced great bread during the life of the machine. I tried 3 different recipes and not one worked. Produced uneven loaves, apparently did not mix yeast well because rose unevenly, not completely baked. Last loaf, the sour dough was hard as a rock when it came out of the machine. Could not even eat it and threw it away. Very disappointed because I was excited about the features. Sister-in-law gave me her 35 year old one, little used, and it made a beautiful loaf of bread first time. Very disappointed and decided to return this quite expensive appliance.

Excellent bread machine
Excellent bread machine, I use it for almost 1 year and it works great, I use option 2, the 2 h cycle. Very clean and easy to use, large capacity, I would absolutely buy it again if I would need a bread machine. Happy with the purchase. I can make healthy bread with good quality ingredients, no messy cleaning, great taste.

Reliable and steadfast
After a year, mine is still whisper quiet with reliable crusts. I use the sourdough mode to make yogurt. Parts are easy to acquire if you lose something.

Doesn't work well with ancient grains
I wanted a bread machine to use for making bread with ancient grains, specifically spelt flour. Everything I read said this machine could do that. But, it doesn't! None of the preset programs works for grains that need less kneading time. I would have to use a special kneading program, then a rest program, then a bake program, and the bread came out looking like a triangle. The kneading function is actually pretty good, but it's a lot of money to pay for just that function. I have read that the European version has a setting for ancient grains, but it's not sold in USA. Otherwise, it seems like a nice machine, not too heavy, kneads well. The instructions are not very complete, but there are a lot of pre-programmed options to select from if you are using regular flour.

Simple and bakes glorious smelling bread to wake up to
I love home made bread, waking up in the morning to the smell of fresh baked bread is a real treat. The unit is very easy to use, loading the ingredients is very easy after you have done it a few times. You will need an accurate scale and some tablespoon and teaspoon measures. The timer sets the finish time of the bread in hours from when you press "start", the minimum is 4 hours and the maximum 13 hours. I sometimes load the dry ingredients in the early afternoon but do not add the water (I leave the lid open to remind me), then at around 6pm, I add the water and set the timer for 13 hours. Next morning at 7 am the whole house is filled with the glorious smell of freshly baked bread. My favorite recipe so far (I haven't had the machine very long) is 400g of white bread flour and 100g of rolled oats, it gives the bread a slightly nutty flavor. It is very easy to clean, these is very little residue to remove from the non-stick surface. Once it is cool, a small amount of warm water and a sponge with a little washing up liquid and a quick wipe around is all it needs. A home baked loaf of bread makes the perfect gift at a dinner invitation.

Big, really big loafs.
Its a nice upgrade from our decades old original Panasonic that we got in the 90s. It makes a tasty loaf and while more complicated than our older unit it does seem more reliable. We only retired the old unit because the plastic was getting ground up off the pan in use and you can't get any more pans for our model. I will say the old manual will be kept because it has a lot more recipes for actual bread than this one. This manual has all sorts of things like gluten free, and other such stuff but scimps on the good old basic things like making a useable loaf of bread. I was surprised that you now put all the basic ingredients in the pan, even the yeast and just keep them separated by location and in order. The old way of having a yeast dispenser and just dump it all in works a lot simplier I think but I guess you have to get progress somewhere. Hopefully this will last us into the 2040s.
