Worked Like a Charm
I don't know why people resort to things like adding pieces of copper pipe or wrapping the bolt in electrical tape when this cheap and simple fix exists. I'm not sure why you need the whole bolt and bracket, but I guess it's good to have it in case you messed up the bolt getting it out. Better to have more than you need than less? Worked great and my doors close smooth and easy.

For a 1983 Mustang they require some modification, the bushing needed to be reduced by about 3/16” in diameter otherwise the door would not open without forcing it. I used the striker bolt with the bushing on it then washer a nut to secure the bushing from moving, used my drill press to spin it, with a file I removed the required amount of material. Works as it should now
