Hertz SPL Show S8 DSP Compact Digital Interface Processor 6 in + Digital in & 8 outputs

This has a lot of wires to connect. So, I recommend making your own harness to make things neat. but not necessary. The setup was tedious, but once I figured it out, it works with no problems. The sound is excellent. It seems to have cleared up the signal from my OEM head unit (2022 WRX). It's easy to use the EQ, etc. It's very accurate with the adjustments. The time alignment is a little finicky, but works very well. One of the best things about this DSP is that it flattens the OEM head unit signal and can sum front and rear to get a full range signal, if that's something you need to do. From there, you can EQ what you need to/want to. It drastically improved the mids. Just an amplifier doesn't cut it. You need something like this to increase specific Hz. Size: This is very small, esp. for it's capabilities. I fit it up behind my glove box no problem at all. No noise induction from the HVAC blower motor either. It uses differential inputs, and the sound is crystal clear. It's very classy looking too, esp. compared to so many other DSPs I've checked. Also, other ones like JL are way too big and clunky. For the price, I highly doubt you will find a better DSP.

I have (had) a really nice stereo set up. I don't have a dsp so thought that would be one last piece I could add to properly tune it. I spent all day putting this in line. It is 1000% properly connected. It turns on and lights show it is working correctly. BUT..... I can't connect via usb or bluetooth. I have tried on 3 different Apple devices. I even went today and bought a cheap Windows laptop thinking that would crack the code. Nothing. Now all it does is block the signal to my amps so my system puts out zero sound. I very much regret the purchase. Now I have to wait for God knows how long to get tech support from Hertz. If I don't hear from them tomorrow, I will probably just take it apart and get my money back. Will take me another few hours to rewire by system again. Major waste of time. Zero stars. Update: I bought a second unit. It connected via BT and USB. It works fairly well... However there are still glitches with the software (It's reversing ch. 3 and 4 in the software even though the inputs and outputs have the correct information) I am trying to get worked out with support and there are features lacking that should be available at this price point (being able to see all channel's eq curves at once). All in all it sounds good and is working well. Tech support is one person and he's impossible to get a hold of. The main draw for me to this unit is it's size. If not for that I would be sending it back and getting a JL Audio DSP. Hopefully I can get the remaining bugs fixed. I would give 1 star for quality control, 3 stars because it does sound good and it's nice it connects to ios as well as a PC. But it's a bit buggy. and 0 stars for impossible tech support.

Easy to use and Easy to connect. In fact i can connect to my IPAD, MAC Book and Iphone 15. Works flawlessly. Easy setup and you will learn it quickly.

Need urgent replacement for my broken DSP and order this, but got a defect product which unable to turn on after connected to power. Completely useless and waste my time. Now I need to refund it and order a DSP from other brand

Initially, I harbored doubts about its practicality. However, upon its installation and subsequent utilization for my audio system, I was astounded by the transformative impact it brought about.

I don’t have any quarrels with what it does do because what it does do works fine. However, there are a few things I do not like. if you want to do any kind of phase adjustments with allpass filters you will not be able to do it with this DSP. The only adjustment you have for this is a 180 inversion in polarity, that’s it. This was the final deal breaker for me and I’m forced to sell the unit and just get a Helix. Also, the 7 band input eq sounds great, but in reality you will only actually be able to use a few, and here’s why. Each band of input EQ has a fixed range of frequencies (1st band 20-76hz, 2nd 45-189, 3rd 113-473, 4th 280-1170, 5th 700-2940, 6th 2000-8400, 7th 6250-20000. Meaning if you have two adjustments to do in one area, you will not be able to do it. There will also be bands that go unused because it may be in an area that doesn’t need any input eq. It also does not have an input RTA like the helix. You will need to plug the unit into an interface and into REW to take an input RTA, or have a standalone RTA unit. 15 bands of output eq is usable, but not optimal For perimetric EQ, precision is somewhat limited. You can have up to 0.1 precision for Q and gain, and only 1.0 precision for hz. Like I said some of these are workable and what it does do it does well, but having already limited bands of EQ and then being able to do no phase work was just a deal breaker for me. I wish Hertz would put out a higher end DSP to compete with the Helix, I really do like Hertz products. This being the best DSP they have to offer is just simply unfortunate. If you’re not doing super advanced tuning, it’s probably fine

All I can say is this thing is amazing. Only thing preventing a 5 star review is the setup takes a long time and there is a lot of trial and error. The app has a lot of learning curves to it like saving the presets and finalizing to the unit. Wish there was a better way to quickly save settings or it auto saved changes made. Now the good part. This is a bad ass piece! I had tried a much cheaper DSP unit and first one failed after only a week. The second lasted a little over a month and luckily was able to return it. Decided to spend over double and get the Hertz. All I can say is don’t waste your time with cheaper ones. This unit has amazing sound quality with zero noise, and eliminated all distortion. The ability to link channels and adjust both sides of each set of speakers is so nice. Makes fine tuning a breeze. The crossovers and time alignment really made my system come alive. I really cannot believe how much better the system sounds now. The app and setup on the computer takes a long time to get it all set up but once you get it dialed in wow. Just be sure to save and finalize to unit before closing the app or shutting down system. My system has never sounded better. The bass is punchier, the mids are crystal clear and the highs are crisp and clean with no distortion. You will not regret this one. It’s worth it if you want superior control of your audio system.
