Great product with even better customer support!
Over the last 3 years I have purchased 6 of the single timer versions of this product plus 2 hubs. We do not have an in-ground sprinkler system and these have worked wonderfully for our drip watering systems at various location in our yard, as well as multiple daily watering for new grass seed where patching bare spots or repairing damage. Each timer can be set up on the phone app with 3 daily schedules (when to start and how long to run), each of which can be on any day or days of the week. Since all of this is wifi instead of bluetooth, you can adjust this from anywhere you have internet access. There are also 3 rain delay choices of 24, 48 and 72 hours so that you can pause the schedules for each timer. Which leads to one of my minor but real disappointments in the app: you have to set the rain delays for each timer. So, in my case, I have to go into the settings for each of the now-eight timers one at a time and hit the rain delay. OMG, if it's raining in the front yard then it's also raining in the side and back yards, just give my the option of a universal switch that affects all the timers as a group! It would also eliminate the air-headed moments where I miss changing one of them as I go thru the whole group. My other minor complaint is that the battery holder is extremely hard to remove. Since it is obviously super-important that the compartment be waterproof, I get it, but I've actually broken a flange on a couple of them while trying to pull it out. I have now learned that it is a a bit easier to put your hands around the unit and push the holder out from the body rather than try to pull it out. And speaking of batteries, it is specified that you should not use rechargeable ones but I have done so from the start without any problems. They last throughout the entire season. I do wish the app would show battery strength tho. I've had one significant issue with the timers, repeated a couple times. and each time their tech support has promptly and thoroughly corrected it. That issue is that the coupling at the top (the part that screws onto the hose bib), can break from the weight and pull of a hose, so you have to be careful to minimize that tension as much as possible. However, each time one of them broke they promptly sent me a replacement timer. BTW, this 2-zone timer has addressed that issue by replacing the plastic coupler with metal one that I assume will hold up much better. So, I cannot recommend these timers strongly enough, especially if you go for the 2-zone model with the metal coupling.

Great Product and Exceptional Customer Service
I purchased 3 of these in May 2025. One has worked, and continues to work, great with no issues. After using one of the others for months, it began leaking from the bottom. I switched it out to the one that’s remained in its box since May, and that one also leaked (but not as bad). Besides the leaking water, they are exceptional, easy to use, have had no mishaps with the timer, with user-friendly app. I contacted customer service regarding the issue - best customer service experience ever!! He was very professional and is sending me 2 replacements. They truly stand behind their products!!

App controlled timer works really well and saved my plants over several vacations
I've used this timer for our deck planters (7 large hanging planters + 12 large pots) for the last month. I also purchased a drip irrigation kit which includes a 1/2" feeder line and roughly 200 ft of 1/4" hose and dozens of drippers. The hardest part was setting up all the hose and then having to order another 100' of the 1/4 hose because I ran out. This wifi timer was the easiest part of the setup and frankly is the thing that makes it all work. It saves me at least 15 minutes every day watering all the planters and the peace of mind alone is worth the price. We went on vacation for 5 days and i turned on notifications in the app so it let me know when it was running - kept my plants from dying during the heat wave. Set-up: 9/10 - the app took a little getting used to but it makes sense to me now. Each side is treated separately (you can name them) and you can set up as many individual programs you want and say which days you want them to run. Ease of Use: 10/10 - I added a morning program and an evening program that run every day, 5 minutes each. I also turned on app notifications so it tells me when it starts and when it finishes. I can also go in the app and look to see how much water it used - this is peace of mind, I've slowly dialed it in and it now uses around 4.7 gallons vs 10 that I originally used when I did it manually. I check it every couple days - i figure if the tubing popped a leak anywhere I'd see that number shoot up. I don't use this feature a lot but its there - there is a manual button on the unit itself to turn it on. This was invaluable when I was first setting up my drip irrigation system. The app does track water usage even in manual mode which is a cool feature. The button requires a firm push so it'd be really hard to accidentally press it which again is nice peace of mind. Features: 8/10 - I REALLY wish it would self adjust based on weather forecast. There is a moisture sensor you can buy separately and I believe that will get me the feature I want so I'm going to order it and try it out. My work around has been to add a 3rd program mid-day that is turned off. When its over 95 for the day, I just turn click the program to enable it and voila, my plants get the additional water they need. If its raining, there are 3 icons at the bottom of the app under Plan where you can select rain delay for 24, 48, or 72 hours. I've used it and it works well. Overall: 9/10 - I loved this enough to buy the single version for my planters in the front. I've already mapped out a DIY irrigation system for my back lawn and plan to expand my system in the fall. Our plants are bigger than they've ever been and we've received a lot of compliments from our neighbors and friends.

Responsive customer service, great product, needs a bit more QC and software updates
I've been working with the RainPoint 2 zone controllers since October of 2023. I started with one unit and then added 3 more in the spring of 2024 to max out my hub with 4 controllers (giving me 8 zones). Everything worked really well for a few weeks but eventually 2 of the units decided to stop working and would no longer connect to the hub. One was blinking white and red repeatedly over and over. RainPoint customer service was very responsive but the replacement units were very slow to ship when I needed them most. The process took a a week or two where my expectations were that they could simply place another Amazon fulfillment order which should have only been 1-3 days. They also didn't request for me to return the defective unit so I question whether they even care about the root cause of the defect. I learned that the controllers are not connected by WiFi but by low frequency proprietary radio signals. This helps save battery life and increases the signal distance but you cannot extend the range by adding more WiFi access points and can only do so by adding another RainPoint hub. I have not tried adding a 2nd hub yet. The software is a great start but has some shortcomings compared to the big brand irrigation controllers. Most significant is the rain sensing abilities. They ask you to put in your location but their location database does not accurately list the location I pinpointed. It was saying I lived in some place called Long Beach but there is no such location near me. They also have a different series called Smart+ which does have a high precision rain sensor but it is NOT compatible with the yellow zone controllers I purchased. Why not? Apparently there's even a different app for the Smart+ devices. Seems like a missed opportunity for them to be incompatible. The soil moisture sensors (green) are not always accurate and are too expensive to buy one for each of your zones. You should be able to share the soil sensing data across all your zones but it only allows you to pair with a single zone. And to change zones you have to get a screwdriver out and find a hidden button to re-pair it. Not intuitive or user friendly. The software also limits you to watering 3 times per day per zone. This should be at least 5-8 for those of us who would prefer to water in shorter intervals more frequently which is helpful for certain gardens / plant types, especially with drip irrigation / mysting. Otherwise everything worked pretty well and I am overall happy with these and still using them. In summary: - Please try to improve shipping time of replacement units when applicable - Please work on more frequent software updates and have a website dedicated to project management of customer requests, whether the request is valid and accepted by the product design team, prioritization, and estimated completion dates - Please make your Smart and Smart+ product lines compatible with each other or make a precision rain sensor for the Smart line as well. - Please fix the location database to accurately represent the location that someone selects.

Great product and support!
Over the past ~ 3 years I have purchased Qty 7 @ Rainpoint water timers and LOVE their product. I've used them to replacing aging/eaking valves from our old wired system and these work great. I've also used them to install sprinkler systems in new areas of our yard as well. The fact that they are wireless makes them very easy to install. No more having to run wires to a remote location of our yard. I previously owne a water valve/timer from another company that was controlled via Bluetooth only, and I had to have my phone VERY close in order to control it - not good. These Rainpoint units work using WiFi which gives them very good range, and I can control them from anywhere in the world (where I have internet access). For this reason I installed a 2 valve timer at our vacation home also. It makes controllling it very convenient since I can manually turn on/off our watering system from over 600 miles away! I've only had one issue with a timer and their tech support has been very responsive and corrected the problem with a prompt replacement unit. I highly recommend Rainpoint products and their tech support.

Excellent Smart Timer with Outstanding Customer Service!
The RAINPOINT WiFi Sprinkler Timer 2 has been a total game-changer for my lawn and garden. Setup was straightforward, and the app is very intuitive—scheduling and adjusting watering times from my phone is incredibly convenient. I love the flexibility it offers with multiple zones and smart watering features that help conserve water based on weather conditions. After about 6 months of regular use, one of the components started to malfunction. I reached out to RAINPOINT’s customer service and was genuinely impressed. They responded promptly, diagnosed the issue, and quickly sent a replacement part at no cost. Their professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction really stood out. If you’re looking for a reliable, easy-to-use smart sprinkler system backed by exceptional support, this is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend

Worked Great for Watering our Garden!
This 2-zone wifi water timer worked great for watering our garden. It was easy to set everything up in the app and it consistently watered our garden every morning throughout the summer. The app even has a rain delay function, so it won't turn on if rain is predicted for that day. It was also easy to use the manual button on the timer to fill up water jugs and/or buckets. I did have an issue with the device after about 4 months of use, but I reached out to their customer service and they responded immediately! They were great to work with! A lot of companies don't stand by their product if something goes wrong, but this company is wonderful. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product. It is a huge time saver versus manual watering.

I really like this water timer
I really like my RainPoint WiFi water timer and would definitely buy again. The timer unit itself appears well made and connects - without dripping - to my hose. I love that I am able to set a schedule or turn the unit on and off manually. It does everything I hoped it would do and it does it effectively. The only reason this is not 5 stars across the board is because it is very difficult to set up the hub if you have a Spectrum router that doesn't allow separate 2.4 and 5 ghz networks. The RainPoint support team isn't available until 9:30 am PT (11:30 am my time) and I therefore had a challenge reaching them. Once we did connect, they had no suggestions for how to connect the router to the included hub; other than to call Spectrum. Spectrum, in turn, tried to help, but - in the end - I had to spend a lot of time trying to figure this out on my own. The trick for my setup was to take the hub outside. I kept repeating the RainPoint procedures until the hub finally showed up on my iPhone. This trick was inspired by online posts - not specific to RainPoint - that indicated that you can sometimes force connect to 2.4 ghz by moving quite a distance from your router. The router can only connect - at further distances - using 2.4 ghz. Once the hub was recognized by the RainPoint app, I was able to move it back inside without any issues. I think it would be helpful if RainPoint customer service staff was trained to offer these types of tips and tricks to customer's struggling with setup. Part of the overall user experience is the RainPoint app. Once you get familiar with the app, it becomes a bit more comfortable. But, initially, it's not as user-friendly as the very best apps we use on a daily basis. Knowing where to navigate isn't always intuitively obvious. Tactile navigation itself sometimes doesn't work as well as I would like it to on my iPhone 14. For instance, I'll have to push a back arrow multiple times to get it to work. I'd also love a realtime feature to tell me how much water I've used midway through watering. From what I can tell, you have to wait until a watering event is finished before you can find this information out. All of the above information is provided with the idea of helping other prospective and actual buyers. However, I want to repeat that I really like this product and would definitely choose it again. You just have to buy it knowing that you might have to work through some issues or a learning curve to get it working for you.
