Branston Original Pickle, 520g

I can't believe I've never had Branston Pickle before!!! I actually saw an adorable, beautifully animated ad for this (search online for Branston pickle ad) and immediately decided I needed to learn more. This stuff is absolutely delicious on a sandwich (I made ploughman's sandwiches) but also great with cheese & crackers (would be great on a cheese & charcuterie board). It's a bit like a savory onion jam and a bit like a sweet pickle relish (to give two American comparisons), but has the distinctive British maltiness and apple pulp/dates/sugar which gives it a sweetness (it's quite sweet, a bit too much but I still love it). It's chunkier than I expected, I believe from chopped bits of carrot and rutabaga and other veggies. Very chutney-like in consistency. Some say it's an acquired taste, although given how sweet it is I'm not sure how anyone could dislike this (people talk about it almost as if it's as divisive as Vegemite). I suppose if you don't like vinegar, you won't like this.

Oh, I miss this living in the US. This was much loved item I missed coming from the UK it was delicious. I guess as I remembered the only issue I had it didn't last long and I have to get other than I am very happy. I did not even get to take any photos because I used it too fast.

This British vegetable chutney has a nice sweet/savory flavor that makes a cheese and pickle or a ham and cheese sandwich taste very nice. Don't really care for the smell but that is easy to get past.

I love Brantson's pickle. It's a fabulous treat for my family. I have a problem with Amazon's package packing practices. The jars often arrive broken. They do not pad the jars sufficiently. I cannot buy this any where else, It's a chance I take buying this, and wondering if it will arrive broken. The Amazon shippers must throw these boxes around, and they shatter the jars

My wife and I first had this on a sandwich in a little cafe in North Berwick, Scotland. A Scottish favorite, it adds a lovely tang to sandwich such the traditional Cheese and Pickle.

Exactly what I hoped! Branson pickle, not an imitation product! Arrived well wrapped, in tact.
