Does this contain actual lilac essence ? I love the fragrance of lilacs, but am very allergic to actual lilacs.

I'm a biochemist. I also have a very keen sense of smell. I can usually detect artificial scents. If you're allergic to lilacs (a lot of folks are), I wouldn't use this body butter. It smells like real lilacs, which leads me to believe that it has lilac essential oil or has been distilled from lilacs.

There is an ingredient list but the print is so small I cannot read it even with a magnifying glass!

Loverly smells awful! Why is it so sticky? No lavender scent at all!

I just bought this body butter. I've found it soaks in completely, with no tacky or oily residue. You need very little. It does smell of lilacs more than lavender. If you've ever stood next to lilac bushes, then lavender plants, lilac has the stronger smell. I can detect the lavender, but the lilac is the more dominant. It's the same if you try a combination of lavender mixed with either honeysuckle, or jasmine; the latter two will be the dominant notes.
