Reliable, performant and flexible RS485 converter
This worked very well as a replacement for an old RS232 to RS485 converter, allowing us to restore telemetry without having to return to the original technology provider. We were facing the loss of temperature‑sensor data from several older grain silos, and with the original manufacturer long out of business, we needed a reliable way to bring the system back online. This converter offered exactly the flexibility required, with support for BAUD rates from 300 to 1.5 kbps ideal for the legacy equipment still in use. We did need to write a small converter program to integrate it cleanly into our setup which was not a fault of the converter, but once in place, the hardware performed flawlessly. It’s a solid, well built unit that stands up to harsh environments and feels like it will last for years. Overall, it’s a dependable and adaptable converter that made it possible to keep an older but still valuable telemetry system running smoothly.

If you know you need one of these, it's a formidable choice
If you're reading this, it's because you know you need - quite specifically - a physical conversion between a D9 RS232 presentation and a screw-terminal RS485! I assume this must have internally house some active electronics to perform the conversion - I can't see that they've listed what brand chip that is (e.g., whether it's a Texas Instruments or a lesser known brand). Regardless - it works. I would guess their stated up-to 115.2kbps baud rate is the certified maximum of whatever brand chip they're using inside. Comes well-packaged (unless I'm mistaken, it's not an anti-static bag - just plastic), and is a pretty lightweight (but good quality) plastic construction itself. The included instruction manual is pretty thorough (see review photos). It includes diagrams for wiring RS485, which is a helpful (physical) cheat-sheet to keep on your desk. For the price - definitely recommended!

Needed a way to hook a PC to an RS485 power meter, so plugged this in and connected two wires to the screw terminals, positive and negative. Amazingly worked perfect very first try. This item simply works.
