1972 Obfusc/ation

When I saw it at a Midnight Movie in 1977, Pink Floyd's film ''Live At Pompeii'' was the High-Water Mark for the Band's live performances, and I still feel that way today; this is Floyd stripped down, no Atom Heart Mother Symphony and Chorus, no back up singers, no side men to sweeten or smooth rough spots. This CD Set marks the first time it's been legitimately released as an audio release. The DVD/Blu Ray contains a partially restored ''Live At Pompeii", the Director's video additions of space animations done in the 90's look terribly dated and incongruous with the 70's film production, they seem to have been minimized from the previous edit, but some are still included. The film does not run in its' original sequencing, which divided ''Echoes'' into two parts, at the beginning and end of the film. The CDs follow this sequencing as well. To see the original edit, one must locate the 1989 Videotape or Laserdisc release; but be aware that the analog sound on those releases is of the original film, the 2016 5.1 Mix is a HUGE upgrade in its' sound. the 2016 Digital Stereo Mix of the film soundtrack is 30+ years late! Also included is ''Obscured By Clouds'', in a new digital stereo mix. Not much improved, to these ears. A number of rare TV/Concert numbers are also included on the DVD/Blu Ray. A fascinating look at Pink Floyd just as they were achieving the cohesiveness that allowed them to transform the band with ''Dark Side of the Moon.''

I'm only 20 minutes into the DVD and I'm already thrilled. This was a mammoth effort by the band securing the original recordings and broadcasting rights of this material, one that most bands don't bother attempting. Kudos and thank you! Go ahead and complain about the price if you want, real fans who've been shelling out hundreds for decades for this stuff in bootleg quality know this is a great bargain. I think it's pretty obvious these guys don't need the money, and that it was done for the fans. Excellent box!

Official release of something I've listened to for 30 years.

Finally Live at Pompeii on cd!!!!! These sets are unbelievable!!!! Highly recommend!!!! From the Barret years, though Atom Heart Mother, to Obscure. These sets will not disappoint. This is THE way to release box sets. As only Floyd knows how!!!!!!

The CD’s sound great and get five star. The Blueray and DVD are weak with incomplete songs , bu the Pompeii portion pretty good but they too do not show group playing full songs , but the sound is superb.

I hate that the early years box set is expensive, but It's great that we can buy the individual components, even if they are missing a few things. I am glad I purchased this.

This is a very nice box set. The price was very good for this.

Poder escuchar el legendario concierto de Pompeya en sonido envolvente siempre fue un sueño para mi, la experiencia es bastante imponente, hicieron un excelente trabajo al remasterizar el sonido en alta resolución y todavía en 5.1, observé que quitaron la canción donde canta el perro y también cambiaron el orden de las canciones, este set lo compré exclusivamente por el concierto de Pompeya al contenido restante ni le he hecho caso, si te gusta dicho concierto no se que haces leyendo esto, solo compralo

Chegou perfeito e de muito longe, sem nenhum dano. Se você tem dúvidas pra comprar, tem Pompéia em 5.1. FIM.
