need to finish assembling AND check that prior assembly was done correctly
This is a great bike and we foresee many years of use. It's sturdy and the individual pieces seem of high quality. My son has had it a few months and it's been good so far. However, as other reviews mentioned, this bike arrives only partially-assembled. You need some bike know-how and special tools to finish putting the bike together. The back wheel is not on, you need to put that on and figure out the gear assembly. Gear assembly needs some finessing to synch and may need additional adjustment to prevent it from catching or slipping. The front wheel was backwards and needed to be removed and flipped in order for the brake tread to work properly and safely. Even if the front wheel hadn't been backwards, it would have still needed to be removed because the brake line was twisted through the frame and couldn't work. If you didn't flip the front wheel and correct the brake line, you would not be able to brake the bike. Basically, it's as if they showed the people handling the partial assembly a picture, but provided no instruction or training in how to put it together. The lack of instruction extends to the buyer as the ones in the box are very unclear. If you don't know how a bike is supposed to work or have the right tools, you will NOT be able to do this yourself. If you know bikes and have a socket wrench set, budget at least an hour to correct and complete the assembly; if you don't, budget at least $100 to have the local bike shop correct and complete the assembly.

It was super easy to assemble and I have had no doubts about how sturdy it is. Solid frame and easy to assemble and Money Well Spent!

Pretty good bike
First- for the price, I did expect a more substantial bicycle that lived up to the Schwinn name but then nothing really stays the same. The bike is kind of lightweight + smaller in overall size than my last Schinnn which I received in early 2000's. Also, it seems that alot of bike manufacturers are making 'unisex ' style models so that the bar in front of the seat is higher than it used to be for a girl's/women's bike. Those were my main disappointments . But- when it came to the actual functions - I would say that it makes the grade. I'm an experienced cyclist for about 25 yrs now and the Good part of this bike compared with the older 'clunkier' model is that it picks up speed quickly - Or as we used to say in my neighborhood years ago a hauls ass. I found that I got to my destination in almost Half the time than my old bike! 😲. So, even tho' I am still getting used to it - I say it's mostly a good bike. It shifts gears really well too.

Bought an pay as a new bicycle and is used
I assembled the bicycle yesterday during the night and finished at 12:05 am of today, Monday 09/18/23. I did not used yet. I bought and pay for the bicycle as new, but this is a used bicycle, I understand if for some reason could be a small scratches during the shipping (which also is not normal, but understandable) but in this case the scratches are too big. Also there are a marks on the wheels when someone else used the breaks. Both tires also had dust. Definitely a used bike. I payed for something new and this bicycle clearly is not new. I would like to have a discount or something. This is not normal. I will use the bicycle for first time in a few hours to see if at least can be used without mechanical issues. Someone else returned this bicycle -I don't have any doubts- and then Amazon sent that to me, the question is why. ***UPDATE*** In the same way that I had the time to write the previous review, I would like to inform that Amazon after seeing my complain and evidence they gave me a discount for the bicycle, THANKS AMAZON for your amazing support and quick response. Also as I said in my first comment finally I got the time to use the bicycle and I strongly recommend it, ride is comfortable and also is too light and really fast, the 27.5 inches tires help a lot to ride smoothly, also has a very good suspension. This is my second Schwinn mountain bicycle, I also had the first one and works fine even when is 15 years old bicycle. I also have a road bike from different manufacturing. I am a 46 YO and started using bicycles when I was 5 or 6 years old. Since then I used a lot of different bikes. I strongly recommend Schwinn, there are another companies offering expensive products but at the end they are very similar. One friend and I did a comparative between his expensive bicycle and mine and at the end he prefers mine because was faster and less expensive. I will update my comment as soon as see any news with my purchase. I hope this information helps. And thanks again to Amazon support. Jesus.

bike will last many years and offers great value and performance
I bought the version with aluminum frame, 24" wheels and rim brakes for my 8-year-old son. This is a very nice bike. I have ridden and maintained bikes for 50 years, so I my views are guided by some experience. The only assembly challenge came with attaching the handlebar - like some other reviewers I found it necessary to detach the brake cable from the front brake, mount the handlebar, then reattach the cable. The brakes are really solid and are easily adjusted for best performance. The shifters (Shimano revoshift front and rear) are intuitive and great for kids, and needed no adjustment out of the box. I have ridden the bike myself, standing up because of the small frame, and it doesn't feel that different from a mid-range men's mountain bike. My son loves it. From what I can see after 2 weeks of use, I think the bike will last many years and offers great value.

Good for beginners
Recent Updates: after few weeks, noticed the gear is sometimes slipping, plus the grip is so close to the gear Chang which sometimes swift the gear by accident. I really wish instead of plus and minus there are clear marking. Already spend around 60$ extra trying to tune the wheel as it was fine toned. I’m not expert in this and recently picked up this hobby/curiosity. Assembly was not complicated and with not much knowledge I manage to complete in 30-40min. BUT front brake adjustment was tricky and later found that front wheel is wobbly so learn from utube how to fix that issue. Finally took it to a trail which is intermediate trail as per the review and this survived. The only Big complaint I have is I wish they put some numbers on left handle to see which gear it’s running. Just plus and minus sign is very confusing. It also don’t let you know when this derail happen as you keep turning and hope it will eventually happen. Then again I think after a while you will able to figure out this. This good if you would like to test the mountain biking. If I become passionate follower then definitely need to upgrade. It’s basic, light but look great.

Perfect Bike for Kids
All parts were in the box and was fairly easy to put together. The quality of this bike is awesome and it's not too heavy for my son to pick up himself.
