No Longer Human Complete Edition (manga) Review: It makes you think about certain things - An interesting story that shows how taking advantage of people instead of working for your goals can lead to a depressing downfall Review: Better than Junji Itos version - I own both the Junji Ito version as well as this, and I can confidently say that I prefer this version over the Junji Ito one. This one is less of a here’s junji ito’s signature art style over Osamu Dazai’s classic work and more of an intra-personal work woven in between the narrative of No Longer Human where in this, the author Usamaru Furuya receives the diary of the character Yozo Oba and goes on a journey to discover what exactly happened to Yozo after reading its contents. Won’t spoil the story but its mainly excellent all through out, the only caveat being the last entry being a little goofy and out there compared to the previous ones. Still a very good read

You should buy, it’s worth it😋
I ordered this book a while ago but I never wrote a review so here it is. This book made me think about reality, it really is a good book and I totally recommend it, just.. prepare yourself, because I didn’t 😭 unfortunately my friend lost my book, so I no longer have it but it did not come damaged and if I remember correctly, it came in clear wrapper so it was nice and packed !

Excellent, but so dark and gloomy
The adaption works well. The story easily fits into the early 2000s. It's true to the source material, so, while it's an absorbing read, it's also depressing. If you're looking for a light, fun read, this is definitely not it.

Finally the wait is OVER!
I’ve waited so long for this copy in English. My “No Longer Human “ collection is finally complete and this was absolutely perfect. I’m only halfway through this version, but I’ve read the source material and Ito’s version. THIS is my turning out to be my favorite adaptation. Definitely not for Kids

First reviewer! No Longer Human by Usamaru Furuya for all 3 volumes could worth between 300-500 dollars because it was out of print after its original release 9 years ago! Now all 3 volume collection are resurfaced and rereleased in one single omnibus book. I haven’t read this version but I have recently read the new version by Junji Ito and both the story and artwork were a masterpiece! This one may probably be a home run since the original releases worth so much money on eBay! Update: Just finished reading the manga in one sitting. The narrative of the plot has done a few changes in comparison to Sensei Ito. I found Sensei Ito to be more grotesquely tragic and harrowing than Furuya’s version. I personally preferred Ito’s version as it narrates like an art house movie.

I had been interested in Osamu Dazai’s works for a long time, as he was famous for his sublime writing styles. However, because of the difficult original text in Japanese, I had not read his works. No Longer Human in Manga Format, therefore, was a great help in getting a glimpse of the Dazai world. This manga version presents the modern version of No Longer Human, not the original one. How is the story? If you like stories about self-destructive characters, you would enjoy No Longer Human in Manga format.

First I'll say, the book came in near perfect condition, except for two small dents, which aren't super noticable. I usually don't leave reviews, but figured I'd give it a try with this one. This was my first experience with the story of No Longer Human, and I went in completely blind. First of all, the story was nothing at all what I was expecting, but not necessarily in any bad way. Personally, I would say this is like the manga equivalent of Requiem For a Dream, but somehow even more depressing. I would recommend it for people that would enjoy a depressing story, with very few positive moments. Without going into spoilers, any happiness you see here will get ruined after a short time, and you'll be on the edge of your seat, wondering how bad it will end this time. You'll be hesitant to turn the next page, but still finding yourself too hooked to stop. Despite all this, the story was genuinely amazing, and the author's afterword at the end gave me chills. It was an amazing read but I probably wouldn't recommend it for the faint of heart. Overall I think I would give this a 10/10, as I don't see any way the story could have been improved. Simply a masterpiece. And now I'm even interested to check out the original novel! Thanks for reading my review, and hope someone that is on the fence about it, will now get the motivation to buy it.

Finally, after a year, I completed No Longer Human (Ningen Shikkaku), based on the novel by Osamu Dazai. This book was deep too deep. I recommend everyone read it at least once. It will elevate your thoughts to a higher level, beyond the perception of a normal human. Worth every rupee.
