Seems to be good quality leather, did a couple small leather slips as practice with scrap leather before trying out this one. It was much thicker than my scrap but just the right thickness to feel substantial and durable. I did all the work on this with just a Swiss Army knife, I’m sure if I could make something really beautiful from this if I bought the correct tools. I’d say I have enough room out of the sheet to make 2-3 more items of this size, the leather darkened considerably when I oiled and waxed it but that is to be expected. It didn’t seem to take wax as easily as my scrap pieces. A lot of brown was getting onto my cloth and some streaks occurred when oiling so I assume it is dyed to some degree, overall good size and value though

I was genuinely impressed with the overall quality and consistency of these sheets. The leather has a smooth, supple feel with just the right amount of thickness for small craft projects. It cuts cleanly, holds its shape well, and has a nice, even finish with a rich color that looks great in finished pieces. The surface has a soft, slightly oiled texture that makes it easy to work with, and minor marks buff out easily with a cloth. Each sheet arrived flat and free of defects, which made it simple to start working right away. For crafting, tooling, and general hobby use, this is a solid, reliable material that delivers exactly what it promises.

Good stuff, I needed an oil tanned hide for a small project, this also fit the size and color fine. I have ordered different leathers from them several times before. and got a fair price, good quality and of course the amazing fast delivery from amazon. The thickness is also accurate, so I lose less on smaller stuff, and don't overbuy as much.

This is extremely dark leather. From a short distance it looks black. I would say this is more like a roasted coffee bean…it is that dark. But I don’t mind it hence the 4 stars. I realize that all screens will make the color look different but this is very different from the pics in the listing. Also, if you do not like leathers that mark easily this might not be for you. I don’t mind it so I’m looking forward to how it will look in a few months.

Very nice heavy duty piece of leather exactly what I needed. The color is almost black on the smooth side and a deep rust Brown on the Rough Side. Price was right and arrived quickly! Smells like leather without any odors or chemicals. Would buy again.

Good for repurposing bibles and books

The smooth side of the leather was virtually black - the color of a dark roast coffee bean - and not even close to the photo description. Not only was the color WAY off, it had a shiny appearance which was very inconsistent across the sheet. At first I thought had some sort of protective plastic material on it, but discovered that it didn't; it was just some sort of black greasy surface coating. When I wiped it with the pad of my finger (not the nail) it left a black residue on my finger and the leather changed color from just the soft finger pad. The only thing positive about it, was that it was real leather. The second issue was that when it was put in a padded envelop for shipping, it was folded twice, which left two very distinguishable streaks across the entire sheet. I returned the product immediately.
