This is an amazing reel. I noticed the price and decided to give it a try. I went for the 3000 version. I loaded it with 15lb braid on a 6ft6in rod and took it out kayak fishing. After only a few casts I switched it for my go to rig, which is a Pflueger President on the same 6ft6in rod. The Pflueger casts a mile with 15lb braid, the KastKing was just so-so and just didn't cast as far as the Pflueger did using the same lure. I really wanted to like this reel so I decided to give it another go, but with 10lb braid to a 10lb flourocarbon leader on the same rod. What a huge difference- this thing casts soooooooo far, is super smooth, and is so quiet. It has become my main rig and has been fantastic. Even casting into the wind with a small rooster tail, this thing just flew, and with a slightly larger lure it went even further. The Pros: Wow, this reel looks really good and is super light. casts a mile, seems to love the 10lb braid. It is just so smooth. The cons: Although it didn't cast as far with the 15lb braid as my Pflueger did, it really wasn't that bad so I am going to say that I don't see any cons to this reel. The price: This was in a perfect price point and certainly didn't break the bank. I got it with a 20% off deal and you just can't beat that at all. Overall: This was such a good reel I decided to buy another one (the Spartacus II- you can read my review on that one as well) and I think I have become a KastKing fan so far. Now if the darn fish would just bite...

2nd reel! And I'll be buying a third. This handles like a baitcaster in the handle. It does not have lag or momentum in the handle like other spinning reels. It stop exactly where you want, everytime like a baitcaster. It makes using a spinning reel for many bass lures completely doable. I'm really not sure why some people hate on kastking so much....but this is a very very nice real for the price range. With anti reverse" which is useless" cough, braid ready, smooth reeling L&R hand,bfs capable because its ultra light weight... It's a tremendous reel. I have the 500 on a spin BFS trout rod setup and another 2000 on a bass setup. Love these reels

This is a great SFS (Spinning Finesse System) reel for trout fishing on a Ultra Light or a Light rod. The retrieve is smooth and firm feeling like a $100 reel (thanks to all the bearings). The reel is ultra light and pairs very well with UL/L rods and provides a great balance to each rod I tried it on. Pairs very well with 6 pound braid and a long 3 pound fluorocarbon leader. It handles small to larger trout with true ease with the its smooth drag. If you need a light reel, well constructed and mid-priced reel, look no further this is it.

Certainly a nice reel. Smooth, drag works well, just a good all around. The only reason it isn't 5 star is the size. I typically get the 2000 series reels for walleye and bass fishing (pan fish of course), but this reel is smaller than the others I have. Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, but it is noteworthy. Time will tell if it holds up to many hours of fishing.

The KastKing Zephyr 1000 is lighter than most reels I’ve owned and runs silky smooth with its 7+1 bearings. The carbon drag handles bass and panfish with no hiccups, and the CNC spool lays braid evenly without wind knots. After weeks of use, it still feels tight and solid. Only minor gripe is the small knob, but overall it’s a fantastic ultralight reel for the money.

Lightweight and smooth! Paired this with a 6'6 UL TFO panfish 2 rod and strung it with 4lb finesse braid with 6lb fluro leader. Dont hesitate to buy this the shallow spool helps cast 1/64-1/32oz jigs a mile. Smooth drag and was handling slab crappie and bluegill with ease. You cant beat this value for the performance. This is my 4th kastking spinning reel and all have been superb. As far as budget reels go I wouldn't go with any other brand. Im sure this reel could handle big bass. If you are lookin for a ultralight reel pull the trigger and get one of these! God bless and tight lines!

Quality seems to be hit or miss . I own four of these newer models and two of the original SFS Zephyr 1000 reels . I ordered another , got overnight delivery, but I’m afraid I got a reel that had been returned at least once before . The reel wasn’t in the box the way they come from the factory. When I attached the handle and turned the handle , I knew immediately I’d gotten a bad reel . The reel would hardly turn . I’m sure if this reel would have been sent back to KastKing, instead of being put back on the shelf to resale , they would have replaced it and this wouldn’t have happened, at least twice . I hope this reel doesn’t get approved to be sold again. Disappointing to be expecting a new smooth reel and get one that doesn’t perform.

If you're looking for a great looking and ridiculously smooth (And I mean that) reel that is durable reel for your light setup, seriously just stop here and get it. The reel is so buttery smooth there's no rattling, shaking, whirring noises, no wiggling handle like you'd expect at this price point. The manufacturing tolerances are as close to perfect that I've ever used. Buying a second one to have as a backup if this one ever breaks lol.

Amazing reel really happy with it and surprised on quality I've always been Shimano reels for decades now and Shimano is the king of reels but I'm glad to add this KastKing to my 20 sets. I had hard time deciding 2000 or 3000 model because there's not enough videos or pictures of it so hope these pictures help with deciding on size. Glad I got the 3000 use it for cranking lures for Pike and Bass 7.1ft rod medium heavy:) luv the green set up
