Our 6 year old girl had a hard time switching from pizza to french fry easily and once she got some speed, she went way too fast and falls. She lost confidence and didn't want to leave the magic carpet. We knew she just needed the confidence on getting on her edges for control. The leash helped her tremendously! My husband was able to slow her down while she transitioned from edge to edge. She just needed that confidence boost that she could do it! She used the leash for maybe 3 runs total and now she is rocking the slopes and in control without the leash!!! Totally worth it. We still put it on her for the handle to help lift her onto the lifts since she is a tiny little thing. If you are on the fence on getting this...GET IT. We can now all go on the same runs without her going to fast! Plus she likes wearing it....she loves the color pink and she thinks she looks important wearing it.

I originally got this ski training harness for my 6-year-old niece, but after talking to the ski instructors, they recommended using a wedgie-style trainer instead. I ended up returning it, so I can’t personally speak to how well it works. That said, based on the design, it looks like it would be more suited for younger kids or toddlers rather than elementary-aged beginners. If you’re considering this for a young child, it might be a good option, but for older beginners, I’d recommend checking with an instructor first!

This harness is a must if you are teaching a toddler to ski. We tried not to use the tethers for long. As soon as our son could slow down/stop, we took the tethers off, since it’s a bit awkward to ski behind him, while using them. The best thing about the harness is the handle on the back that you use to pull your child up. It makes getting on the ski left so much easier. We also used the handle, if our kiddo fell and absolutely couldn’t get up. We bought one of these when our kiddo was 21 months and he still uses it at 5 y/o. He skis black diamond runs, but we still put the harness on every time, to help with the chair lift. Highly recommend this harness. Our recent purchase was for a family member. We were so glad to find the same one that we already loved.

We were so thankful to have these harnesses during our recent ski trip to Switzerland for our two kids, ages 6 and 7. They had skied once before and were doing well, but we were worried about the gap between bunny slopes in the U.S. and going down mountains in Switzerland! I'm so glad we bought these because I don't think I would have ever had the courage to take them beyond the kid's area otherwise. It was great to just let them wear the backpacks for the day, some areas they didn't need them and we just tucked the straps in. However, if there was a sharp turn or dropoff, we could just pull the straps out quickly to make sure they were safe. By the end of the week, I could tell my daughter was completely in control the whole time and didn't need it. That's the best part of this product... when your kids don't need it anymore! However, I can honestly say we would have never been brave enough to get her to that point if we didn't have the harness as a transition. Definitely recommend it!!

This was a game changer for us in terms of getting our little one more confident on skis and being able to ski as a family. I am 5’6” with average height skis and was able to hold the ropes without hitting the backs of her skis. However, my husband is 5’10” and his skis almost touched the backs of our daughters while she had the back pack on. It was pretty awkward to manage with them that close. So I knocked off a star since it does seem to only work if your skis are a below a certain size. With that said, I am glad we have it even if only one of us can use it.
