Used the 6" version when I made my bed. I'm making a youth bed for my son and these were perfect. I personally won't use anything but these for my bed rails. They are solid, easy to install, and will last a lifetime.

Just as advertised

It worked real well, but despite being a woodworker for 45 years and having a fully equipped shop, the install was a bit tricky, difficult.

Product well made and fit perfectly.

I am an inexperienced carpenter. I can say that these are very durably made. But I could not use them on 3/4" actual thickness red oak lumber, for fear of splitting the wood. I don't have a router nor experience using one. Perhaps a router could create a mortise without splitting the little sliver of wood that would remain on either side of the centered fastener. I don't know if you could hand chisel a mortise without splitting the wood. Either way - too tight a fit on 3/4" wide lumber for this freshman carpenter.

This is my third set of these brackets. Easily installed in the posts and rail. The brackets are solidly built.
