DogShell® Truck Dog Pet Heavy-Duty Backseat Cover Extended Platform Bridge

We have a seasonal camping site roughly an hour and 20 minutes from home and my flimsy dog hammock just wasn't cutting it. There was not enough room for my dogs to lay down on the long drive and one always ended up on the floor, which I didn't feel was safe. I began looking at backseat platform bridges, and I discovered this one. I like that this bridge is all one piece and I could adjust the width by trimming the boards if I had to. I also liked that if a board broke I could replace it, instead of buying a new one. The purchase of this platform bridge has been exactly what I was looking for. It has provided more room in the backseat of my Sportage for my dogs to lay down and sleep on long car rides. It supports the weight of 2 of my dogs at a time, which is roughly 110 lbs. The fabric is very heavy duty, and protects my seats from my dogs nails. Even though this bridge is a little more expensive, its well worth it!

I got this for my 2017 ram 2500 crew cab. It fits the backseat and covers the floor to keep my dog from falling. My only complaint which is why I'm leaving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the straps that go around the headrest are barely long enough. This makes the straps tight and hard to install. Took two people to hook both sides one to pull the other to clip. This is a great product and will be buying another for my other vehicle. Edit. I've had this for roughly two years. We use it at least 3 times a week hauling our 70lb dog around. After about 8 months of this use the boards that are used to cover the foot well part of the backseat broke. This made this part of the hammock Unusable and our dog actually fell down when it broke. I pulled the broken board out to find it being a super cheap very thin plywood. I went to my local hardware store and replaced the board with a thicker 1/4 plywood sheeting. The stitching, straps, and buckles have all held up great. The replacements boards have had zero issues. I still think this is a good product they just need to use better boards. It makes you wonder if my 70lb dog broke the board how it's rated to support 250lbs. I'm gonna leave this review at 4 stars. I debated dropping it to 3 however everything about this hammock is good quality except the boards used to support the dog weight. It's an easy and cheap fix with a circular saw and sheet of plywood from a local hardware store.

I bought this for an over the road trip I was taking with my dogs. Normally I put them in the cargo area of my SUV, but they are big and it isn't the greatest area for them. I thought I would give this a try and both the dogs and myself were very pleased with it. I drive a Ford Escape, so a small to mid sized SUV, and this was the perfect fit for the backseat area. This was easy to install and I was able to put 2 large dog beds side by side in this to give them a nice cushion to rest on for our 18+ hour round trip. The quality of the material is very sturdy. No rips or tares in the fabric with them jumping in and out. Again, my dogs are larger breeds and weigh 80 to 90 pounds each, and it appears to be holding up very well. As for cleaning, I can't honestly say because all I have done so far is brush it off. The dog hair sticks to it but it sticks to EVERYTHING so this isn't new to me. Overall, I am very happy with this and would definitely recommend it. I think that my dogs would also agree!

You’re reading this review most likely because you looked around at the product offerings online and are looking for the best option. I RARELY write a review for anything I buy, but felt the need to do so for this product after the ridiculously great customer service I received working with this company, on top of the quality product. After having the seat hammocks and other improvised setups already on the market, I went with the Dogshell setup for 2 reasons. 1. Best offering according to other reviews online, and provided the most sturdy and modular setup for my 3 dogs (75, 70, and 55 pounds each). 2. They offer custom options for the discriminating buyer who wants additions features to make both my life and my dogs’ lives easier for travel. After contacting the company, it was immediately clear that they go above and beyond for their customers. I wanted a few specific requests for my particular setup, and they were happy to add or change features for a nominal fee. AND, they turned around a custom design for me in less than 2 weeks! I think the standard product (car & truck sizes) would have worked just fine for me, and will work great for almost everybody. I requested slight changes to the design to accommodate my specific vehicle that helps me fit 3 large dogs in my truck. The material is solid, the platforms are solid, the stitching is solid, and the list goes on. Sure you can get by with a blanket over your backseat and deal with it, but after installing this and using it with my 3 dogs, I’d get one again in a heartbeat. If you’re like me and like to put in the extra effort for your dogs and make them comfortable for long road trips, this product is a no brainer. And when your dogs are comfortable, you’re comfortable, AND, the drive is much safer for all parties. Go get one, seriously.

6 Inches too narrow at each side, so a foot too narrow. Solid construction, but needs me to put a small tarp under each end to keep the seat clean. The platform bridge is a good idea but not very practical; dog needs to junp 4 ft in the air to get onto the back seat / platform.

This is an uncomfortable, slippery dog seat cover. The carabiners aren’t that easy to use either (push buckles would be easier to use, especially when you need to stretch the straps to fit a large vehicle). When I saw my dogs slipping and sliding on the planks, I knew it had to go back.
