Is this dongle truly plug and play or do I need to use the disk.

The DG40S is not Windows 10 Plug and Play. When plugged in, it does not work. Others have noted this, and the documentation provided with the device admits there was a Windows 10 driver update in April 2018 that began causing problems. Why this version is still sold I do not know. There's another version, the DG40SA, that may work better. I've checked, and the answers and comments appear under both devices.

Will this work with a bluetooth mic?

Yes, it will work with a bluetooth mic, headset, or headphones. The BlueSoleil software that is package with it allows you to select the profile and BT connections for the device.It was the only way I could connect my Creative Evo ZxR to be able to use A2DP Headphones profile and HandsFree MIC profile at the same time. It worked well.

does it support windows 10? I keep seeing older comments that it doesn't ...

I just bought two of these to use on a three year old Dell Optiplex 7010 running Windows 10 Pro and I cannot get the dongle to work properly at all. I first tried to go for Plug 'n Play but system does not recognize it form any usb port. Then download the BlueSoleil drivers and that entire process is sketchy and the install triggered our anti-virus and threw an incompatibility error with Outlook? Not sure why Blue SOleil tries to install an Outlook plugin? My need is just for a wireless mouse. Overall I am disappointed especially since this was an "Amazon Preferred" and #1 best seller. Basically, we just wasted $25 on a worthless Bluetooth Adapter.

Is this compatible with Windows 10?

Yes, it works with windows 10. If your comptuer runs native windows 10, you can use the built-in driver. If not, you need to install the IVT driver, search on avantree support website, and install it.
