I live in an apartment with central AC that has an LG thermostat. I thought of replacing the entire thermostat first, but opted for this instead and it works as intended to control most if not all functions of the AC. Couple of points to note: Integration with Google Home only allows to switch on or off the AC using your voice. On the other hand using it with Alexa will allow you to change the temperature with your voice too. It will not tell you if your AC is On or Off, because it is just one way communication so if you are hoping for that you might want to go with a smart thermostat instead. Also the Temp+Humidty sensor in the cable seems to be relatively accurate too.

Pairing this with alexa would make life alot easier.

Not connecting

I programmed the RM4 to turn the air conditioner on and off with a timer, and everything worked fine. The air conditioner operated according to the programmed timings, but I noticed that the app screen freezes and shows that the air conditioner is off even when it is on. I emailed Broadlink customer service, but the response was far from consistent with my inquiry.

Con cable de alimentación de 50 cm aprox. de longitud. Use el control remoto para TV Samsung 2016, agrego modelo y en automático me obtiene los botones del control. Así tambien con un control universal para un minicomponente Sony modelo 2002 y para un TV box Android ZTE de "televisión de paga". Tiene buen alcance el infrarrojo, no es necesario que este frente al equipo a controlar. Sensor de temperatura y humedad tiene buena lectura para uso interior de casa, usarlo con Alexa lo detecta muy bien. No unico malo que no se actualiza los botones de controles para una TV Sony X85 modelo 2021 y Receptor Denon S760H modelo 2021 para estos equipos tuve que configurar manualmente algunos botones porque no funcionaba el control por default, para poder controlar mejor los equipos debido a que se abren par de ventanas para llegar el boton a usar. Si quieres configurar el control remoto con otro router wifi (otra casa con internet), se tiene que dar reset al RM4 y volver a configurar, pero si usas una bocina Alexa no sera necesario volver a configurar la bocina esa queda guardada con el skill de BroadLink. Para usar el control remoto deben estar conectados en la misma red local todos los equipos y tu celular.

Setup was easy, powerful IR, can easily reach all devices in my living room. Codes for all known brands are built in, had to add one remote for led lights. Got mostly to control the Air Conditioner and it works ! And you can set up a schedule which come in handy. I would recommend it

Work as promised pretty much efficient. If you want to control your non smart devices with alexa, then it is a good one to use. Needs a bit of setup but that can just be googled up.

This device essentially replicates any IR remote that you have lying around. By doing this, you can make any IR controlled appliance "smart". As an added bonus, this device can also give you accurate temperature and humidity readouts. You have to use the Broadlink app to connect this device to your wifi network. The broadlink app is a little finicky and doesn't seem to work on some devices. I tried initially on an iphone and it didn't work. When I tried it on an android phone, it instantly recognized the device and I was able to set it up. You can use the Broadlink app to learn IR codes from your existing remote and then blast them out on command through the app. The IR LED seems to be very strong and it always triggers my A/C. The device has not gone offline or dropped Wifi connection in a couple of weeks. It reconnected back to wifi seamlessly after a power outage once. Broadlink has several similar devices and this one seems to be the best value for money. It is also very small and can be discretely hidden behind a cabinet or other furniture. The real trick is to pair this device with a home assistant setup. That way, you can automate a lot of dumb devices around the house.
