Review: First mate - Yerba Mate Playadito is my top choice for drinking mate. I have it every single day in the mornings. It's an excellent starter and keeps me energized throughout the day. This yerba mate blend is perfect for those who are new to mate. It's gentle on the palate and easy on the stomach, making it a great introduction to this beverage. I recommend starting with small amounts to allow your body and mouth to get accustomed to it. Personally, I prefer not to add sugar when drinking mate. I suggest trying it without sugar; it's how I believe mate should be enjoyed. You can pair it with something sweet if desired, but the mate itself, in my opinion, is best in its pure form. While it might be a bit pricey, I assure you it's worth the investment for the quality and experience it offers

Super subtle flavor!
I've been fascinated by Yerba Mate recently, since I started looking for something that would help increase my hydration levels and bumped across this awesome South American drink. The very first one I tried (Rose-mont?) was way too bitter, the next one's name has the word love in German is much less bitter, but also less caffeine and more expensive. The one after that has a cross on the label, turned out to be really good. Playadito thus far has the most subtle of flavors, almost to the point of being tasteless. Very nice size leaves, not too much stalks, ok amount of powder. Seems to be mild in caffeine content as well. Goes great with cold apple juice, lemonade or green Gatorade. Probably a good one for beginners. Finally, it seems to work well as a mild appetite suppressant.

An essential part of my day
Being a full-fledged, raised in New York, currently living in Florida, coffee addict, and 100% gringo, I must say that I have gladly adopted Yerba Mate as my beverage of choice. Most days, I only drink mate. If I need an extra pick-me-up, I'll also have a cup of Joe in the early afternoon. But I have found, undoubtedly, that the energy supplied by my morning mate is superior in all ways to coffee. The South Americans are on to something here. When I was first introduced to Yerba, it reminded me of a big bag of MJ, and I was just hesitant to try it. Gringos believe that tea should be in bags. Luckily, I finally trusted a few fine (and one not so fine) lady friends from Uruguay and Argentina, and now I am hooked. Do not take Huberman's word for it, as he still pronounces it like a gringo. Argentines say "Sherba" and the a is pronounced "ah." it's not "Yer-bah Maa-tay" Come on now, respect the tradition. At any rate, I have tried several brands, including gourmet ones from Argentina, and Playadito is my my go-to. It is readily available in the states, and is mild tasting. Sometimes I add allulose, which is the only artificial sweetener I use, but most times I drink it unsweetened. Bitter foods are good for appetite control and weight loss, para gringoes de gordo. Entiendo? Ciao. Toma mate con gusto!
