The Folding Book: A Complete Guide to Creating Space and Getting Organized

Great for beginners and space saving
I bought this book being 44 years old, and never have I ever folded leggings or shorts in my life. Step by step instructions show you how to easily fold everything from a fitted sheet to thong underwear. I tried one drawer thinking, “ok let’s see what I can do.” The before and after pictures are shown and I have way more space for more things. Bonus is I can see what everything is instead of digging through clothes to get the piece underneath. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to get organized, save space, or are just tired of not knowing what you have. Perfect for beginners or advanced folders.

Fantastic Guide!
This book seriously helped my folding game. I thought working at Abercrombie & Fitch in high school would prepare me for being a mom but now that I have clothes in all different sizes, I had no idea how to keep all the drawers organized and use dresser space efficiently. Enter— The Folding Book. I have been going over it with my kids so they learn these glorious methods from the start. It’s a practical guide bound into a really beautiful hardcover book. Don’t hesitate to add it to your collection if you are an organization junky or if you just want more space in your drawers!

Beautifully photographed book for those obsessed with folding...
The Folding Book, by Janelle Cohen, will show you how to fold your clothing and linens efficiently. It would be too easy to dismiss this book as so much folding folderol, but for those who want a truly detailed guide to folding all types of clothing, this one's for you.The book itself is beautifully photographed and the instructions are crystal clear. The idea is to fold clothing in a way that prevents wrinkles, is space efficient, and makes it easy to keep your drawers neat. There are tips, as well, regarding general drawer organization and keeping only things that you wear or need. The book is a stand alone guide to clothing and linen folding and organization. It borrows heavily from Marie Kondo's The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, in both spirit and technique. Kondo's book is more broadly focused on the philosophy of tidying up both your drawers and your life. However, most folding techniques shown here are identical to Kondo's. There are some differences, in folding socks and intimate apparel and Cohen has a unique way to fold napkins and some towels that creates a pocket. Cohen is also more supportive of hanging up certain articles of clothing than is Kondo. If you are looking for a more in depth, overall philosophy of organizing your household (and your life), go with the Kondo book. If you just want to focus on folding, this book will serve. That said, this book goes into more granular detail, showing progressive steps to fold each article of clothing and in covering more types of clothing. On the one hand, this is very helpful. On the other, Cohen gives examples of folding different garments that quite obviously will fold similarly and repeats the same steps for folding very similar types of garments. Men's/women's, kids/adults, big/small... there are only so many examples needed for how to fold a t-shirt.Nevertheless, I really did like this book. The photographs are colorful and clear. There is not a lot of prose, but what is there is eloquent and encouraging. I was very much taken with Cohen's take on folding bed bottom sheets. She went through the steps of how to fold them neatly but also stated that this will take much practice and if it doesn't end of perfectly, that's perfectly okay. No one will criticize you if your bottom sheet is a bit balled up when in storage. The book has a certain charm. It is probably more detailed than it really has to be and probably gives too many similar examples on folding. But, hey. It's called the folding book. I enjoyed the author's pointers and her overall philosophy. For the targeted audience of folks who want a comprehensive guide to folding, this absolutely fits the bill.

I bought this book for my girlfriend. She loves folding and organizing. I saw on Instagram that Janelle was launching this book and had to get it. We just received it and my girlfriend loves it. It's a coffee table book with utility. The book has a solid construction and is embossed. It feels really nice. My girlfriend loves the tips. There's everything from how to fold fitted sheets to how to fold mens underwear... seriously! She folds my underwear now, i'm a fan.
