This hydrometer measures the specific gravity of heavy liquids. Loaded with iron shot to float upright in liquid. Range: 1.000 - 2.000 x 0.010. This hydrometer is designed for laboratory use, but can be used in the home as well.Measures 11" long, and has a top diameter of 0.6.Baume 0 - 70°Be Includes protective case. Review: This works flawlessly for my needs. It is accurate and easy to read while being much cheaper that other options. Unfortunately it took about a month to be delivered. Review: I use the hydrometer to measure the specific gravity of pottery glaze. This hydrometer works fine, but it's just kind of long. So, practically, it only works if you're going to measure a large amount of glaze, or measure it in a tall, thin vessel, like a graduated cylinder. I know this hydrometer is accurate because I bought a second one that was half the length. They both came up with the same results.

I would have given it 5 star except it comes with literally no instructions. I guess they assume if you are ordering one you already know how to use it.
