The long-awaited, follow-up to IT HATES YOU by He Is Legend is now here! HEAVY FRUIT boasts 13 tracks of grungy, heavy, melodic rock music, that will solidify He Is Legend as the trend setters, and fearless musicians their fans already recognize them to be. A long-time respected and championed band by the music industry, He Is Legend is back once again to breathe fresh air into the seemingly stagnant genre of hard rock. Heavy Fruit is produced by long-time friend and former member of the band, Mitchel Marlow (Filter, In This Moment) and mixed by Bob Marlette (Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, Saliva). Impulsive is a word that comes to mind when thinking about Wilmington, NC band He Is Legend. Their sound is best described as rock and roll although; it can be difficult to predict what direction their next album might take. Refusing to be pigeon holed into one sub genre, they choose to write songs that can be unique and polar opposites of each other, but still assuring you that you’re listening to He Is Legend. Pulling influences from bands like Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins, they crafted an aggressive and faster sound with those defining elements. The name He Is Legend is an adaptation of the 1954 book I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. After releasing their first EP in June 2004 entitled 91205, the band signed on with Christian based label Solid State Records which has fueled many debates among fans about whether or not they are a Christian group. While members of the band have claimed to be followers of Christ, He Is Legend has made it clear that they are not collectively a Christian band stating, “We are in no way a Christian band… We all enjoy music; we all enjoy playing our instruments, so if we had to be classified as anything it would be a ‘band’ band or ‘music’ band.” They released their full length albums I Am Hollywood and Suck out the Poison, which were followed by extensive touring in the United States and Europe with acts like Norma Jean, Atreyu, Chimaira, Dragonforce, and Killswitch Engage. Review: he is legend is legend,,, wait for it... hope your not lactose intolerant, because the next part is dairy! - He is legend strikes again! This album is exactly what i was expecting for these dudes! As a longtime fan, I can tell you that these boys are not afraid to experiment and play with there own sound. The results of this experimentation is a truly unique and different sounding album with every release. With "Heavy Fruit" you will hear bits of rob zombie, zz top, alice in chains, and many more blended into he is legends own unique blender of psychodelic sludge metal! Never heard of that genre before?! Thats because it isnt a genre! He is legend is the bruce lee of music! They believe in the style of not having a style! Dont believe me? Well stop reading reviews and get rid of your baby teeth! Buy the album! Then when your done, work your way back through there catalogue of work! Youre welcome in advance! Review: They Are Legend - He is Legend is one of my top three bands of all time, but I always dislike the new album when they release it. It's always such a departure upon first listen from what you're expecting. After a couple of listens, it starts to make much more sense. Heavy Fruit is my favorite album they've done so far. There's so much to find in each song, and the lack of screaming is a nice change and fits very well. Can't wait to hear what they do next.

best rock album out right now.
This album is flat-out awesome. It the best He Is Legend yet and one of the best albums of 2014. He Is Legend has basically gotten away from their screaming parts (except the end of "The Carpet"), but the music, production, and vocals have all improved. This is a very heavy, catchy, and unique album and you will feel like a badass when you listen to it.

Great CD, bad hard copy
Amazing record as always by He Is Legend. My only complaint is the hard copy CD itself. Whomever decided it was a good idea print the lyrics in cursive with small white lettering on a light blue background was an idiot and needs to be fired. I like reading the liner notes and lyrics just in case I missed a few lines on some of the songs.

The Unknown Legends...
The masters of reinvention. I never know what to expect from these guys and thats a good thing. HIL never ceases to amaze me. It's a shame that more people don't know about them. This album is no exception. It did take a few listens to digest but every listen it gets better. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

But if you liked most of what came previously
It's not the same HIL as last time, just as they were different then from the HIL of the time before that, so it takes some adjusting to. But if you liked most of what came previously, Heavy Fruit will give you that good feel once again.

he is legend returns with a moodier, darker, and more varied album. It it kills.
What can I say, it's He Is Legend. I've Been there since 90125, and I gotta say, this is their best album. It blends hints of all of their albums with a newer, darker sound to create pure musical genius. Pour it out fellas!!!!

Awesome Album
Really good album and a good follow up to "It Hates You." These guys really impress me with the variety of musical styles incorporated into their songs and and their overall sound in general is very unique and catchy.
