Got it up and it works fine and looks great! I used clear mailing tape to hold the template in place. Drill right through tape to make screw holes. I USE WALL DOG SCREWS FOR A TIGHT HOLD WITH NO ANCHORS NEEDED 😁 drive screws into wall to mess only minium tight.left side swival may not work if too tight. Included allen wrench was a reak plus. However, getting the set screw right was a challenge. When you get the set screw snug, you will have success😄😃😁 UPDATE, months later. Unit came loose from the wall due to poor design😡 Pivots from the base of wall causing stress on the base and loose screws. I ended up purchasing a much better product from Amazon by American Standard $31.00 and worth it. This model does not pitot from the base. Rather, pivots from a point at end of arm. Easy to install, looks great, bold, with class. Very good product😅😄😃😁 All other tp holders suffered from same issue. Look for one and two star reviews to reveal this design flaw😄

Nice design and easy to install. Solid construction. Paper rolls easily but doesn't keep rolling when you stop pulling.

Awesome toilet tissue holder! It looks very expensive and substantial. I also love how the left side pivots UP so you can change your TP rolls. Installation took me a little longer for this one compared to the other Kohler Alteo (robe hook and towel ring) items I purchased. Kohler's instructions are very generic as they use the same instruction sheet for many of their bath fixtures, so don't expect individual step by step instructions for the item you ordered. I also recommend using the anchors that are provided. I tried to install it without the anchors, and the screws didn't stay in place and were very loose in the wall. Hope to enjoy this new fixture for years to come!

Some reviews made this seem really hard to install. I thought it was really easy. The box comes with lots of screws and anchors for ceramic tile or drywall installations. The right mounting bracket has a slot for one screw to be mounted such that it can rotate off vertical. I can't see how people have a problem mounting, if they tape the template to the wall and mark the screw holes before drilling. At first, I couldn't figure out the mechanism, and in fact thought it was defective - so I installed the first one to a board to see how it worked. It seems to have to be mounted to rotate. DO NOT MIX up the placement of the left and right mounting brackets - since they have different functions Once mounted, the left side rotates up a little more than 45* and the paper roll slides right on. There is plenty of room for Costco tp- a new roll isn't impeded by the wall. Pretty cool design. If anything, I wish it was at least an inch, and maybe two inches narrower - that's why I gave it 4 stars. There's a lot of play for the roll to move from from side to side. But all in all, it matches the other Alteo towel bars and takes all of 1. 5 seconds to change the tp roll. Very cool innovation. Very well made, good quality and pretty ORB finish.

I like that that this is a hinged toilet paper holder so you don't have to remove the center. The individual parts are quite hefty out of the box so you are paying for quality parts. I think Kohler has provided very helpful guides and instructions to make it an easy installation. That is, if you read them and make use of it. If you toss everything to the side and look at them if you "need to" like we did the first time (we put them in all our bathrooms now), let's just say you will be giving unnecessary time to installing something.

Beautiful modern design. In this holder, there is no joint on the pivot arm. The pivot arm opens by swiveling against the wall. Thus, there is a tiny gap between the pivot arm and the wall. Installed correctly, the gap is no more than 1/16 inch. The gap must be there or you would be gouging bits of drywall off whenever you change a roll of paper. For all pivot tissue holders, the installation must be exact. When folks say they paid a professional to do it, that doesn't mean a whole lot. A pro just wants to finish as fast as possible. Plus, it is unseemly to charge say an hour of labor to install a silly toilet paper holder. If you're handy, this holder is definitely recommended, If you never do things around the house, choose a normal non-pivoting holder. If you install the holder using drywall anchors, there's no second chance if you mess up because a do-over forces you to put the holder in an inconvenient alternate location. I was able to install the pivot side in a wall stud with the catch side in drywall anchors. Install the pivot side first, then mark the exact location for the catch side.

This is a very solid TP handle

I did not return this item. The quality of this holder is very good. So why did I give it a 3 star rating instead of 5 stars? Because I am tired of fixings things that I order (anywhere). Apparently, Kohler does not know what a metal washer is. One of the wall plates has a swivel mount for the holder assembly. This wall plate has 2 pieces, both held together by a screw (see picture). A washer should have been used on this screw for movement. As it was, I had clamp this wall plate is a bench vise and work it back and forth to break loose the two pieces (with the help of Liquid Wrench and oil). The screw is very securely attached, so I see no possibility of removing. I am happy with the holder, but for the extra work. Expect some tweaking of the wall mounts and set screws for a perfect action of the holder. Also note: Drywall installation instructions could be improved. -> After drilling a 5/16" hole, square up hole with a small knife. This will allow drywall anchor to slide into hole easier.

When mounted, this holder looks and feels very substantial. It has a delicate soft curve look but is very sturdy with a high quality finish. Happy with purchase.
