Perfect for me, maybe not others.
This is the 3rd and best compressor I've owned. I wish I had it 10 years ago. It sounds extremely transparent and doesn't shape your tone much beyond what you do with the treble knob (12 c'clock is neutral). The pedal is small and doesn't take up much space on a board. The switch works okay, there is an audible pop when the pedal is engaged but that's common with true bypass. I almost always leave it on so not a big deal to me. But the best feature is the blend knob. You can really get great compression without the 'squish' sound by tweaking it. I have some terrific sounding but low output single coils and this pedal really brings them alive.

Not As Good As The Original.
I've owned the original for a while now. I rarely use the grit knob so I figured I free up some space on my board with this micro. This pedal sounds nothing like my original. The sustain, volume and blend are fine. The treble isn't even close. It mid ranges the tone some but doesn't have the higher range of the original. Sounds blanketed. Maybe I got a dud? I don't know. I'll keep playing with it.

Best compressor pedal
With this, I've finally been able to get the long, saturated sustain I've been looking for, aided by my TC Electronic noise gate pedal, which gets rid of what little noise the compressor ads.

Philosophers Tone Pedal
Sweet, sweet pedal. Great sustain. This little pedal won't ever come off of my pedalboard.

You too can sound like Gary Moore (Sort of)
Certain songs call for an extended sustain and preferably a clear sound. This does it. It also can make a PRS Piezo sound even more like a Taylor acoustic by adjusting the tone, which allows you to leave the Taylor at home.

Unnatural attack, brittle tone
I have never used a compressor before I bought this pedal, but I've been doing lots of research and listening to lots of demos for various compressor pedals. I decided to go with the PT because of the small footprint and reasonable price. From the second I plugged it in, I could never get a nice tone out of it. The compressor engages very abruptly and doesn't sound natural at all. I decided to return it and get an EQD Warden instead, which sound fantastic on just about every setting I can throw at it. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple extra dollars for the Warden, or explore other options. Would not recommend.

Can't stand Ross-style compression? Look here.
I have an old DynaComp that was given to me by a family member, but I could never find settings I liked. It was just so dark. I researched a bit into the types of guitar compression available in pedal form and how each behaved. This led me to realize I should avoid any "Ross" style compressors. This one is optical, which is a bit more gentle it seems. Add in the treble knob to keep things clear and a blend knob to keep some original pick transients and it's heaven.

A very good little compressor. The build quality is adequate, and it has almost no self noise. The Sustain knob is quite bunched up, as its often the case, and a lot of the boosting happens in the last quarter, so you have to set it carefully. As I said it has very little self noise but of course it will amplify your instrument’s noise at high settings. It is not a character comp, if you want a very squashed, clicky, bouncy sound it might not be the right pedal, but for general pedalboard taming duty, without adding noise as many compressors do, and at a good price it works just great.

Well built and likely to be an "always-on" pedal on my board. The Blend knob is a must allowing you to mix your uncompressed signal into the sound and a treble knob to brighten the compressed sound if required.
