A little ingenuity and its great.
Yes, the metal edges are sharp but a little duck tape fixes that. Because I got the 21 hook, I added tape at either end of the flip loops to eliminate shifting. I also ran a line of clear nail polish along the curved edge although it didn’t feel sharp. The wooden disc had a few rough spots that sanded out easily. I don’t think all those rubber bands “broke;” I think they were cut by the sharp, untreated edges. The 5 I got work fine. The larger disc will not fit inside a sock, but if you have THAT big a hole, you have a bigger problem than this handy gadget can fix. The directions are cr*p but there are some very good videos on line. Watch several so you get the best instructions.

Grab some new rubber bands. Otherwise works great.
Love! However the rubber bands were old and broke easily but the item itself works fine. Wish they made one about twice this size.

Works well; needs a little clean up before using.
Inexpensive mini-loom that works as designed after a little "clean up". Pro's: -Comes with everything you need except thread to get going, including a needle and a little latch hook tool. Extra bands. -Wood disk was sanded and pretty smooth. Seems to be made of some kind of soft wood, very light - balsam maybe? -Hooks were straigt and moved side to side easily. -Everything fit together well and I was using it pretty quickly. Cons: -Loom is made from stamped, assembled metal pieces and the edges are VERY SHARP! As others have noted, the edges will cut the included rubber bands, and your fingers, I think, if you're not careful. I took a small file with very fine grit and smoothed the edges. A simple metal nail file with the diamond grit would do the same. Took maybe 10 mins to smooth the edges. -The wood disk is sanded bare wood -- not varnished or coated with anything. I took some Danish oil and put a couple coats of finish on it to make it smoother and easier to slide under the fabrics without snagging. Took about 10 mins plus dry time. You can spend a ton more money on these style of looms, but for someone wanting to try it without sinking too much money into an experiment -- I thought it was a good value. The clean up didn't take long and if I end up not using it, no big loss.

Ignore the bad reviews. it's worth every penny
Yes the edges are sharp. yes the wood could use a sanding. it's still worth EVERY PENNY. a speedweve of the same materials (wood and metal instead of plastic) but a minimally higher quality costs $80 anywhere else. the plastic ones on here aren't any better than this one. if you have a metal file and a sheet of sandpaper in your toolbox and about 10 minutes of time, you can fix all the issues listed in the negative reviews. I haven't had a single rubber band break, but they carry rubber bands at the dollar store if they do end up breaking. don't get the larger looms if you're worried about it breaking, i got the 14 hook one and that's all you really need. for bigger patches you can work in sections and it's easier than dealing with the mess the hooks can become during shipping or during use. I'm not too bothered by the fact that the surface isn't concave either, like other reviews said.. i haven't found a single model of speedweve that has a concave center honestly. i promise you I'm going to be using this thing until I'm an old grandma. I'm here begging all my friends to wash and send over their holey socks because i love darning with this thing so much 😂and i HATED darning before i got this beautiful little contraption.

It's perfectly functional, but ONLY if
It's perfectly functional, but ONLY if you have the tools, ability, and patience to improve it. If you're not willing and able to do that, just don't bother. If you're a crafter looking for this after seeing your favorite CosTuber use one, you know this is a very old style tool, so it's pretty much impossible to mess up the mechanics if you know what you're looking at. So here's what arrived: The body is a stamp-cut piece of sheet metal with some rough edges in the back. The disk is flat and cheap, which makes it difficult to use, and its rough and jagged in places -- it needs sanded and sealed. The rubber bands might break if you look at them funny. The other two pieces are a very long, sharp needle and a latch hook. If you have pliers, time, and mod podge, you can probably make this work, but if you need to use it immediately, go choose something nicer.

The more hooks, the merrier! Works great!
Mine is the most hooks available (without buying a lap or tabletop loom!). So worth it - and speedy arrival. Expect a waterproof large mailer envelope, triple packed with bubblewrap or not. But all xclt & intact. Old saying applies: It's a tool not a toy. So (gently!) untangle any hooks crossed among themselves. You'll be helped by sliding a short skewer or fine metal crochet hook inside the top 'flip' row btwn projects. Know your pattern, colors, and fiber thickness beforehand. Keep a thimble and scissor, and be sure your work area is wel-lit and comfy. Instructions are included and fill youtube too. Works great as-is, or with it's round/square wood backboard.
