No more squeaking and better quality than school rentals
The "A" string broke on the rental student cello. Originally bought a set of 'cheap' strings (all 4 strings included in the set). While my son could play the "A" string, it tends to squeak. After a few tries, we gave up and returned that set, bought this single string (close to the price of the 4 strings)...and yes, there are even more expensive ones. But for student use, this seemed sufficient. Wow, no more squeaks, easy to play, and sounds better than the other 3 strings that were on this rental cello. So, yes, as other reviewers have noted, even if you were to buy a cheap cello, get a set of these strings and they will sound so much better.

No more cheap string squeak
So far the best cello strings I have used and less than half the price of The next step up. These strings are in an orbit of their own and I have suffered so long playing cheap strings. I never realized it was not my fault. Today I put these on and I can finally play again.

Nice strings for my Chinese Cello
I recently bought an inexpensive Cecilio Cello on Amazon because I'm 50 and thought I'd relive my tween years of cello playing without breaking the bank. It's a slow process but I KNEW the sound could be better than the scratching sounds I was getting from the CHEAPEST STRINGS ON THIS PLANET THAT CAME with the cello. Purchased these Prelude Strings based on positive reviews. Wow!! What a difference. Now granted, I do realize that these are not the top of the line strings (those are very expensive- almost more than what I paid for the cello!!!) but by simply changing out the strings, my cello sounds well, like a Cello should sound. The strings are thinner than the original set and therefore easier to press and find the note more easily. It's a win in my book. (Note: I encountered a problem with my C string when replacing the older string and the company was VERY understanding and worked in resolving the issue very promptly and professionally. A+ Customer Service!) If you are a student or a celloist looking to replace strings without selling your blood, this is a great set!

Good strings for the budding cellist!
My daughter had outgrown her rented 1/2-sized cello so we bought a used 3/4 sized cello. The cello seemed nice for a student model, but her instructor soon informed me that the G string was having issues holding a tune and was probably in need of replacement. I decided that it would be wise to buy the whole set as I would probably need to replace them all eventually. The D'Addario Preludes seemed to be well reviewed and had a moderate price-point so I went with them. So far, I have only replaced the G string, but what a difference - very stable (tunes well and stays in tune) and has a good full tone. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but for a student grade instrument, these work well. These are a nice sounding string for a moderate price. Coming from guitars, I was a bit shocked at what they get for a set of cello strings but I resisted any urge to buy a set of cheapies. Do your budding cellist a favor and avoid them too. BTW, I was new to stringing an orchestral instrument with a floating bridge, so I searched it on YouTube. I recommend it for anyone who hasn't strung one before.

How good it sounds
I love prelude strings for all the orchestra instruments. They sound really warm and It’s easy to fit and it functions well. You should get it because it sounds great.

excellent beginner strings
Beginner cellist here, I recently purchased a beginner cello on amazon and decided to upgrade the bow with a Viotti Carbon Fiber Bow and change out the strings. These strings have a much nicer feel to them on the fingers and hold there tune, I noticed much easer playability as well, although that is part to the bow as well. I would definitely recommend this set of strings, especially for a beginner for there value, overall quality, and feel. The cost is definitely worth it making learning easier.

Not long enough for 4/4
The package says Cello 4/4 but the length is for a Viola or Violin definitely not a Cello. It doesn’t even reach to the first peg. I double checked the package to make sure the wrong one wasn’t sent and it definitely said Cello 4/4, the wire needs to be 43” and it’s not. It was sealed with a sticker so I don’t know why it would not be correct. I’m disappointed because I have to spend more time waiting for a different wire and spend time to go to the store to send this one back.
