Excellent cover. Strong materials, worked great fro my Hero 8. Love that it also lets the USB-C to be exposed. If you are running in wet environment this might not be for you. I use this on my drones so I can power with the USB and leave the battery weight behind.

After many months of suffering the original GoPro door coming loose and falling off, it finally got lost completely (probably the same place all those missing socks are!). I found this Soosun after-market replacement and here is another aftermarket product for GoPro that is better than the original!. If you can live without the so-called "waterproofing" of the camera, this door is a great replacement. I mention this because it has an opening that allows the USB to be accessed with a permanent opening when the door is closed. For me, this is a much better solution the solid OEM door as now I can power the camera externally and not have to worry about the exceedingly short GoPro battery life. The door is held on strongly and doesn't slip off easily as the original door did....kudos for that! The cost is a lot for such a small item, something like 5% of the cost of a new camera, but I could not find a less expensive solution and it is competitively priced to other replacement doors. Conclusion: Easy decision to buy this replacement.

Vital if you want to add the microphone adaptor or even the charging / power lead to the Hero 8 Black whilst in use - unlike the foregoing Hero 7, keeping the standard door open in order to be able to have a lead plugged in, is not an option on the 8, as it needs to remain closed to hold the battery in! I never liked how the sockets were exposed on the 7 anyway, where the door had to be left open (and flap about in the wind) or removed, if an external lead was required, but this does seem a much better arrangement. It works the same as the original door but with just a small aperture to plug in an external lead. Not waterproof in the context of being submerged, but should be shower proof and keep out most dust and dirt - or at least more so than the Hero 7's arrangement. Material is aluminium or alloy (as per the original), and appears to be well made.

Something GoPro themselves should have produce. Used it for a 100km bike ride, give access to USB C port so I can attach power bank to keep it going. Build quality is 99.5 %, the 0.05% is me nip picking the one flaw (Corner is not flushed with the GoPro unit).
