KontrolFreek FPS Freek Vortex Performance Thumbsticks

I was thinking about investing in an XBONE Elite Controller for the option of having taller sticks. I have never been a very good twitch-shooter with a controller and wanted something to at least give me a better feel and more control. I was hesitant about stick extensions at first just due to the amount of travel I knew I would have to get to the face buttons on my controller. But the difference in price was enough to sway me toward trying the Vortex extensions from Kontrol Freek. I am happy to report that these little lovelies have exceeded my every expectation. First, the build quality is great, the sticks feel very grippy and just a little supple. Second, they only took a few matches of play--jacking up stick sensitivities and adjusting accordingly--to really get used to (also, clicking of the L and R sticks still remains surprisingly easy). Last on the list was actual gameplay improvement. Wow. After a bit of "oversteer" I had everything dialed in. I especially noticed and really appreciate the ability to make fine adjustments or fine leans on the stick. This was especially apparent while playing Battlefield one. If anyone out there has played this gem, you will know that the LMGs are squirrely as hell. The amount of fine finesse I could place on the stick was adequate for controlling the rise of the LMGs (Lewis Gun especially) during sustained fire. I would highly recommend this particular product. I am looking forward to trying out other offerings from Kontrol Freek as well as picking up another few boxes of Vortex extensions. They are now a favorite that I don't want to play without.

Works great just like it's supposed to although it doesn't fit perfectly on some joy sticks with the thicker rubber on them.. but will fit most. It's nice because you can switch them back and forth depending on what you're using them for. For example, I like the taller one on the left for most games, but on some shooter games it's nice to put on the right for an extended aiming range. Plus for me they're actually really comfortable once you get used to them. I don't want to go back to not having them it just feels better especially for longer game play my hands don't cramp up as much.

I love these, I bought them on a reccomendation from a youtube video. First few games with them took a bit of getting used to but soon I really noticed it improved my targeting and overall KD. I can't imangine playing without them.They are easy to use, easy to install. The tops feel great on the thumbs especially the concave one. Would highly recommend this to anyone who is a big fan of first person shooters. My only issue is, now that I have been using for a few months, on occassion I find my thumb slipping off from time to time. But overall I really like these and think that they do improve aiming & movement accuracy and control. I didn't think far ahead to track a before and after stats, so I can give a real scientific review, but it does feel like my gameplay has improved. I went in and adjusted my sensitivity setting way up, since I felt like I had so much more control, and I think this has helped my game play as well. I do think they are a little pricey, but I am really glad I bought them!

They actually work quite well. I play several shooters, and I did notice (or felt like I did) a slight boost in accuracy. It's a bit easier to control recoil on games like Battlefield 4, and I get more precision kills on Destiny, especially in Crucible. Took a star off for price, the tiny pieces of plastic hardly warrant $15+, but they seem well made so far and perform as advertised. Certainly a cheaper alternative to a $150+ SCUD controller or something.

As an older gamer (45), I have been playing since the Atari age and have used controllers from almost every console out there. OEM controllers are designed with the mass market in mind and rarely fit my hands comfortably (I Have long fingers 10" from tip of thumb to tip of forefinger when splayed open). I frequently experience cramping or fatigue when playing for any extended length of time or being pressed hard by enemy fire. On a trip to my local electronics store last week, I noticed Kontrol Freeks Phantom series controller stick extenders. I was skeptical about the claims of improving my gaming but, they were on sale so, I figured I could try and return if they didn't work. My normal look sensitivity on a scale of 1-10 is usually around 3-5 (old man slow) which is the default for most FPS games. One of my boys plays at 8/9 in FPS and usually has more success at multi-player and single player than I ever have. I installed the Phantom extenders and dove into Destiny to test them out...... WOW! That is a good word to describe what I think about the Kontrol Freek products. It did take a few minutes to get used to the extended sticks and with the look sensitivity on 3, i felt like I was in slow motion. I adjusted the LS up to 6 and was surprised to find it still seemed too slow to me. So, I jacked the LS up to 9 and soon found I could Kontrol the aiming with much more Kontrol than I've ever had. To sum things up, I've settled on 7/8 LS and my multi-player skills have basically doubled in less than a week. The longer range of the stick allows me to aim much smoother and faster than ever. I ordered and received the Kontrol Freek Vortex today and I love that it has the long and short extenders and the protruding long extender is even better than the cupped Phantom I started with. The stick just roles with my thumb instead of my thumb dipping into the sticks pit. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!! I would definitely recommend this to gamers with longer fingers and to older shooters that may be a little slow on the draw (look speed). Great job KF!

Works well for a short period of time. They get dirty easy and start to wear down fast.

The only reason why I dislike this product is that the left thumb stick Kontrol Freek doesn’t attach to my controller properly and moves around a lot other than that it’s still pretty good I’ve had a pair before and they worked perfect but this new pair I got are a bit finicky the right thumb stick is fine I’m not sure if it was a bad batch or something but they still get the job done so it’s not that bad I can deal with it until I get another pair other than that it’s still a worthwhile product to purchase and I would buy these again in the future
