Check, the look is funky and you'll think the mouse will be wireless even without the mouse pad, bot the case, take the mouse pad away, and you need to plug the mouse in, and for traveling the mouse pad is and absolute waste of space...the mouse itself is great looking..

I love this mouse and pad though; it's soooooooo cool. Terrible for gaming; sometimes you get the mouse cursor randomly jumping all over the place... but since I "retired", I don't care about winning or need to win as badly as I used to, so it's way more fun and enjoyable for me to use this mouse than any other mouse (Razer Deathadders, Overwatch edition etc, Microsoft, Razer Tron special edition mouse) Oh, adjusting the mouse sensitivity is annoying too on the fly; you can't go back in sensitivity, only cycle forward 3-4 settings per button press... But it's SOOOOO AWESOME

For day to day use this mouse is awesome. Button layout and hand feel is great. If you’re trying to use it for gaming forget about it, mouse loses connection very frequently making it impossible to game. Id recommend just getting the Rat 8+ it’s the same mouse but built way better And it’s wired.

Arrived quicker than expected, installed after just plugging into my Battlestation about a month ago. Much lighter on the wrist movement, noticed no glitching or performance disconnections, post one week break in period unit started randomly disconnecting. Migrated from a wired Mad Catz RAT 5 to this RAT Air wireless setup, I would highly recommend even with wired its great with the most expensive pad you've ever bought

This is my experience thus far using the R.A.T. Air optical wireless gaming mouse with activation board. I purchased this product because for me, wireless isn't optional. I need the freedom of a wireless mouse and I really like the idea of a wireless mouse that doesn't need batteries. I've been using my R.A.T. Air mouse for a few weeks now. Previously I used a cheap eBlue Mazer II. The R.A.T. Air product concept is a good one. And the product does work, but unfortunately is so quirky that I really can't recommend it. The issues I've experienced may be fixable in firmware though. This review is as of 7/16/2020 and so far I continue to experience issues. The most serious issue I have stems from a design flaw; the mouse doesn't appear to have an Off switch or button anywhere. Occasionally the mouse will suddenly stop responding, usually after I've had my hand off it for a few minutes. To restore it to functionality I have to remove the mouse from the activation board and set it far enough away for long enough for it to fully drains its internal power. Then wait at least an additional minute before moving the mouse back to the activation board. It will usually reconnect at that point if I waited long enough for the mouse to fully power off. A simple off switch would have made this a great deal less annoying. Though if it didn't disconnect/lock up 5 times a day, I may not need an off switch. When it works, it works pretty well. The build quality is above average. It feels light the first time you pick it up but that's largely because it doesn't have weighty batteries inside. The RGB effects are really limited but they work. I would have liked more customization options for a product this pricey. While using this mouse the cursor position will also occasionally randomly jump. My previous Mazer II never demonstrated this behavior. I found the problem was less severe while using a USB2 port. USB3 seems to make it worse. The left mouse button also doesn't reliably respond to clicks now and then. When I set the polling rate above 500mhz I experience a strange rubber-bandy elastic lag effect with some apps. Research indicated that may actually just be a limitation of my USB ports though so this one may not be the mouses' fault. I'm using what appears to be the current software revision from their website. Unfortunately overall I recommend you don't buy this product in its current state. Hopefully they'll be able to polish it a bit with some revisions. With the strange behavior quirks, it's definitely not worth the price. Not even close. If it goes on sale for $50 it might be worth it. Mad Catz will need to bug-fix this a lot to make it worth the $185 I paid for it.
