300 Matte Black Lacquer Rollerball Pen

I am a long time fan of Shaeffer pens. As a collector, I own dozens of them from inexpensive models to special editions in sterling silver or palladium. This pen is metal with an attractive black coating and gold tone accents. Considering how inexpensive it is, the quality and beauty are remarkable. It is a good size for my hand and it has good balance. The coating has proved to be durable. One very important feature for me is that the rollerball takes standard (Pilot) refills rather than Shaeffer's proprietary offering. I should comment that the brushed chrome version has all the good qualities of the gloss black pen and is about half the price.

I purchased this pen its dimensions ( long and heavy) and looks. I was not happy with my Cross pens. The Scheaffer is owned by Cross but the quality is superior. For the price, this pen is not matched. The ink is more like fountain ink in the flow and if you leave the pens still over the same spot, it will bleed like a fountain pen. I like it, but If you don’t, the Cross ink barrel fits in case you don’t like runny ink. This pen is the best and should last me a lifetime. The black and gold is stunning. I will be buying these for holidays gifts. You will not regret buying this writing implement for your satisfaction (the compliments are just the icing on the cake).

Good pen with enough heft to feel comfortable while writing without fatigue. The look is classic, the mechanical construction is quality, and so far, the finish has held up pretty well. I would definitely recommend this is a "daily user" for someone who likes a medium heavy roller ball. I use this for travel since I don't care to travel with my fountain pens, but increasingly I reach for this at home as well. For the price, I haven't seen many pens that I would prefer.

Perfect! I ordered multiple pens to try and get one that would work best for me. This is the only one that made the cut. The clip retention is perfect and it’s spring loaded so it slides easily off my shirt. It takes my favorite refills, Schmidt 888, which is very rare to find in a lower cost pen. These are much better than the Parker and Cross alternatives with better build quality and feel. The flow is good with the OEM refill but they are expensive so just get the Schmidt refills. Easy to change the ink out and the design is well put together. I wish it was made of all metal but overall very happy with the rest of the construction. 10/10!!

This Sheaffer is rich in appearance, looking far more expensive than the price. You know you have a serious writing implement in your hand by the heft when it is picked up for the first time. Some may think it a bit unbalanced when writing with the cap posted, but I prefer it that way. The medium rollerball writes smoothly with a nice wet line. A great pen for work or home.

Great Buy! Very nice pen for the price. I wasn't sure about buying it. I have had pens in this price range that definitely feel like they are not worth it; not this one. The size and weight are nice. The feel in your hand is one of quality and comfort. All the hardware fits tightly to the pen. The cap clicks on and off solidly and when you attach it to the back when it is open it also attaches well without contacting the barrel. This is a nice Shaeffer refill which is very smooth. I like it better than my Waterman which was 3x the price. Just be aware that it is not a slim pen. Maybe it was my perception, but it looks slimmer in the picture than it is in actuality. It's more the size of a Waterman Expert or Mont Blanc Meisterstuck. Typical for a pen like this one.

Received the item with missing refill and damaged box, useless.

I've always loved great pens. I have several (Mont Blanc, etc). This is my favorite. It's heavy enough to be substantial without being too heavy, writes great, and looks impressive. It just feels good in your hand.
