Based on another review about rusting, I treated the interior of the tubes with LPS-3. After a few rain days, it did start to show some rust at several connections, so I treated these with Rustolium Rust Coverter. Remember, this item is not stainless steel, so even a tiny scratch or welding will exposed the raw steel. After the treatments, there has been no rusting. The unit was fairly easy to assemble, but I did not use the wind deflector, as I installed it on low racks mounted above my truck bed. Very easy to remove or reposition with the provided clamps. Fit nice on my 2022 Maverick using the Yakima roof rail attachment, setup was simple and it gave us all the space we needed for a long family trip, and because this is slim I had enough room on the side of my rack for an additional cargo box. I think this is just as durable as it’s competitor racks, but its a fraction of the cost. It’s a no brained- get this one if the size looks like something you are looking for. I had a tent, 4 chairs and a duffle bag in this thing (used a cargo net to hold it all in) and it worked perfect and saved up a bunch of space. It was great.

I did all the suggestions I read here: like displacing moisture inside, repainting it, and improved mounting. I haven't seen any rust and it's solid. I use a tailgate net on top since they are the same dimensions. The "skinny" or low-profile is good, too, since this is on my daily-driver (car). I'm considering a 100w solar panel that fits/drops inside for when I go car camping without anything else on the roof.

I added a second rack to my trailer and did a repurchase of my first rack. They say that they are identical but the size of this rack is not what is advertised. When I purchase again I am expecting the same product and not one that is cheaper made.

If you're looking for a $400 rack for $150, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a good rack at a reasonable price, this is a pretty good one. As others recommended, I sealed all joints with calking, and painted all welds with rust-oleum. This added about $15 US. I have used the rack for 6 months in all US Rocky Mountain weather, and I have very little rust. I also removed the plastic hand nut tighteners, and cut the u-bolts off below the rack on the attachment brackets. I left about 1/4 inch or 6 mm of u-bolt threads above the nuts when rack is installed, and nuts are tight. This keeps the rack contents from being damaged by the u-bolts or plastic hand nut tightens sticking up above the bottom of the rack tubes.

I purchased this basket for my 2014 Subaru Forester. The full basket configuration was too long and obscured my sunroof so I opted for the half basket setting. Assembly was somewhat straight forward- the basket was easy enough to put together. Installing the basket was another thing, though it's only half a basket- it was more difficult to install than other full size baskets. It's heavy for what it is. The basket has held up to California's more recent rainy season....however has already begun leaking. I will be getting rid of mine soon enough, I would not recommend this model unless you figure out how to weather proof it better. The actual build quality of the item is a bit on the lower end. There are some areas where the welds have holes. The powder coating has held up, but the leaking rust is apparent on my black car.

Intuitive assembly. Great size so I can also fit our kayak rack on top of our Tucson. Sturdy brackets, good material.
