My Second D4 Mini – Essential for Multi-Camera Interviews
The Setup: I just purchased my second Deity V-Mic D4 Mini because it has become an indispensable part of my setup. I run these on my Canon M50 cameras for on-camera interviews and vlogging, and the results are consistently professional. Why I Bought a Second One: When doing two-camera interview setups, having identical microphones is key for matching audio in post-production. The D4 Mini is so compact and reliable that it was a no-brainer to pick up another one. It’s "plug-and-play" with no batteries required, so I never have to worry about a mic dying in the middle of a shoot. Performance on the Canon M50: Design: The offset shockmount is a lifesaver for M50 users. It keeps the mic clear of the flip-out screen and the eyepiece, which is a common struggle with other shotgun mics. Audio Quality: It delivers a much fuller, more directional sound than the built-in camera mics. It does a great job of rejecting side noise, making it perfect for interviews in less-than-ideal environments. The "Secret Weapon" Input: The 3.5mm AUX input is brilliant. I can plug a wireless receiver or a lav mic directly into the side of the D4 Mini, and it automatically splits the tracks (Camera mic on Left, Aux mic on Right). This gives me two channels of audio without needing a bulky external mixer. Final Verdict: If you own a Canon M50 or any mirrorless camera, this is the best value-for-money upgrade you can buy. It's lightweight, rugged, and sounds fantastic. I trust these for all my interview work.

Great little mic
The sound quality is so much better than the internal mic on my cameras. While it draws power from the cameras, I don't notice any quicker degradation of the batteries. It's small so it's easily packed in my camera bag. I love that it has both input and output jacks to use for other connections (like a Rode wireless mic). The dead cat wind supressor is durable and somewhat heavy for it's size, but it works well. It does't seem to muffle the sound.

My Onboard Mic Forever
This thing is great. The quality is really good and it isn't all that expensive like Rhode. This thing never leaves my camera. I shoot a lot of Youtube videos with music and my SM7B, but this mic serves as an amazing scratch-audio mic for that. I would be entirely comfortable taking only this mic on the road with my camera knowing that i would have really good audio burnt into my videos. The best feature is the added mic input built into the mic itself. So, you can plug an additional mic into it (i use my GODOX wireless mic) and have both audios recorded on separate tracks. That feature alone makes it worth the purchase!

Good until loud noise
Good mic but any loud noise & mic will distort audio that comes after which you won’t realize until looking back at footage. Lost a few good videos because of this but a simple unplug & plug in will fix the issue

Perfect for my needs
I originally thought of this mic as something I would need to upgrade later, but I don't see a need to replace this until I break this one somehow. I use this mic attached to a mic stand to make Youtube videos in my garage. Placed correctly I am able to minimize the loudness of the room and capture my voice loud and clear. It fits great on camera, and there isn't any detectable hiss or other noise. The dead cat works well when I'm out and about and overall its just a nice grab and go mic if that's your thing. I usually have it on a mic stand though and its positioned as close as possible while staying out of frame. Works great for me, and is likely worth a try for anyone else!

What a steal for this mic
Purchased this mic for outside usage on my Sony Cameras...OMG..using this mic on a closeup shot of about 5-8ft, it sounds like your using a professional boon mic..Im serious..Even from behind the camera, your voice comes through clean and clear. Wind blocker is a nice conversational piece, however does a phenomenal job of blocking wind...I am almost ready to set up the mic in a hidden place where audio can be recorded to a Tascam and dubbed in. No need for lapelles..its really a awesome mic for the Sony A7 Series cameras

Great mic
I take the mic everywhere to vlog. It’s been through rain and snow and hasn’t failed me. It’s small and mighty. However the stand it’s in is not strong enough as it says a bit in the front. Not a big deal tho.

The clarity is good enough but does require some EQ tweaking to extract the goodness out of the mic. Using it in a boom config for my YouTube videos, and I would say it's decent. Let's see how much it holds up in the long run.

Sab theek hai but noise thoda bahot aata hi hai.... Agar vlogging purpose ke liye le rahe ho ye mic toh suggest karunga ki Bi directional mic le lo... Wo better rahega

Deity has really high output. Things do sound good. Perfect for my ZV-1 and it gives voice in front a bit more depth (ZV-1 mic is already pretty good, but this still helps to focus the sound). No batteries needed. The deadcat is actually substantial (shows tiny on the pics, but it is serious)

I've used rode mics for years and heard good things about the D4 mini. It wasn't what I hoped for. The audio quality is mediocre (though reasonable for the price) and I find it peaks much more than my rode mics, including the comparable video micro. The polar pattern picks up more noise from behind than the video micro, which you may want, but it's also significantly quieter in front. So if you're 10ft in front of it, it's already getting pretty quiet. This isn't a flaw, but it's an important difference to know.
