Right off the bat, any insulation gimics you see on other products are just that. Fiber isn't effected by anything other than light and a thin nontransparent shielding is good enough. The only issue is it's still break with less force and degrade faster over time. Both of those factors don't matter cause I'm not using the cable as a jump rope nor is my environment going to cause degradation of the insulation to break down within the next couple of decades. These are a no brainer imo as they're cheap and work just like any fiber cable. Also easier to train these with the thinner cable. There's probably a possiblity of being so cheap that it doesn't work but I bought a couple of these and all of them work fine

I bought this optical cable after I mounted the tv on the wall in my guest room. It was connected to my old school Bose Solo TV Sound System. It has an optical audio connection only. Anyway, the 6’ one was too short and I bought this based on price and length. It easily reached from the tv, into the low voltage in wall conduit and then into the sound bar. This particular sound bar is not wall mountable, it is old but still has great sound. No issues with the connections, as some have complained about. They both clicked into their respective ports and the audio sound is the same as with using the original 6’ cable. I would recommend this product. It is very thin, but this is not a cable that is supposed to be unplugged many times. For under 6.00 it was a good deal.

Any optical cable will do the job but this buget cable is excellent.

The cable is VERY thin/slim. However, it appears to be VERY durable. The connectors have no problem staying plugged in. Using for my QLED TV to [super] cheap DAC to my Pioneer A-10AE integrated. So not using for 5.1, only 2.0 sound. MUCH better than the headphone jack to RCA cable I was using. The length is what I wanted, the function is what I wanted, I got what I paid for. Comes with a lifetime warranty.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Price was good.

It just works, like I expect from most StarTech products. Easy to use, good signal, fits my audio setup well, and easy to cable manage. Good quality as always, I hope this company never changes.

Plugged into my PC and powered speakers without any issues. The people the complain about it fitting loosely either have a defective cable, or the jack on their equipment is on the looser side of the spec. Both ends fit securely, but not too tight. Keep in mind, the optical signal is strong enough to work with the cable an inch away from the jack. It doesn't need to be super tight, it just needs to not fall out. The cable is very thin, making it easy to snake through small crevices, just be careful not to put too much pressure on it, glass fibers will break if you do that.

I ordered several toslink cables and this is the only cable which could send 24bit 192khz signals without any problem

Very handy to connect a sound bar to a wall mounted TV. The extra 1m was very useful!

Pro: Works as expected with my audio interfaces. 8 or 4 smux adat channels. Tight solid plug connections. Have had no issues. Affordable. Con: It is incredibly thin and rather stiff and if put besides other audio cables on the floor it’s easy to trip over. Due to it’s material it makes small “cable loops”. Been close to rip it out of the interfaces. Gaffer it to the floor to avoid breaking it.
