What is the difference between this camera and the one from dahua? any features missing or added? final question, can i load dahua firmware?

The firmware that comes with this camera is not Dahua, it is a custom firmware by the seller and some random people over on ipcamtalk. It may start as official Dahua firmware, but it is not supported by them and you have no idea what has been changed by the seller. This is a gray market camera and not supported by Dahua, so you'll need to install official Dahua firmware at your own risk.

Is this a us version fully supported by dahua? update with dahua fimware updates?

EmpireTech is excellent at providing new firmware as it becomes available. HE supports the cams with those firmware updates-- not Dahua directly. If you do a google search for that cam model number and add the word "review", you will see a website with a forum for security cameras. EmpireTech has a section on that forum where new firmware for different cams is announced frequently. Andy is top-notch for support of these cams. You can buy with confidence!

When does the ir light come on? If there is a small amount of ambient light to record in color do the ir lights still glow?

This cam has excellent low-light capabilities because of the large sensor. I have two 13 watt LED bulbs (60 watt equivalent) in front of my house, and my cam never goes into B-W mode with IR light. I am adding another cam in a dark area of my property-- it Will go into IR, but it has advanced analytics and will optimize the IR level to produce clear images of people and faces instead of over-exposed blown out shots.
