Review: 5 Stars - Such a good book. Astounding the childhood Audrey had. I’ve loved her work for years and had no idea. Highly recommend. Review: Creating a modern female role model, that goes beyond glitz and glamour, in more sense than one. - This book outlines the intricacies of WW2 loyalties, betrayals, and dangers in occupied Dutch territory, in a very compelling fashion. Some have said there is not enough of Audrey Hepburn in this book. That is to seriously misunderstand its purpose, which is to weave a contextual web, both nuanced, and some times necessarily brutal, around what Audrey Hepburn did for her homeland as a teenager, in gravely imperiled circumstances. Her deeds were heroic, and have been largely unsung. This book rectifies the omissions of biographic hagiography. Audrey Hepburn was no ordinary film star - but a inspiring female role model throughout her life, concluding latterly with her compassionate work for UNICEF. A book to commend to anyone, but especially to daughters and nieces.

Good book in good condition
Book arrived in good condition, although the thick photo pages have started to detach from the spine. Content-wise, a fascinating and reflective work focussing on Hepburn's childhood and teenage years in her beloved town. Eyewitness and personal accounts of the war really elevate this work and make for a chilling image of wartime Netherlands.

Perfect gift, perfect storyline.
The book arrived suitably packaged in good time. It was Christmas gift and the recipient, an avid follower of stars of the past was delighted by the book and it's theme. A well written book that I would be pleased to recommend to others.

Informative and clearly written.
Beautifully written. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Audrey Hepburn and the tough life she’s endured as a child. I passed it on to my granddaughter who’s relishing the writing and the history of the day.

Unbenutzt, neu. Bin mit der Abwicklung total zufrieden.

This moving and in-depth study of this part of Audrey Hepburn’s life was a revelation. Her devotion to ballet and her endless struggles to become a dancer despite the horrors she experienced were so touching and gut-wrenching. Also her relationship to Anne Frank and the Frank family was enlightening. An extraordinary artist and a well-researched and written book. Highly recommended!

It is a marvellous story of a young woman confronted with the Nazi persecution and how she and her family lived through the difficult and horrible period. It showed extraordinary courage, tragedies and great perseverance leading to triumph and survival. It is the story of the youth of a world famous actress who became an icon in fashion and acting. Anyone interested in the Dutch Resistance movement here is a wonderful account as well.
